Jags vs Raiders talk

#41

It is going to really interesting to hear the home crowd Booing their team if they get ahead. Yea, The Raider fans are not being shy about wanting the team to lose in order to aquire the number one pick in next years draft. The ones I know want to select Shedeur Sanders badly. I'll be listening to the game to see if they do actually boo. lol

It’s so difficult for me to want the jags to lose. I refuse. I hate to lose draft position, but the draft is like gambling anyways. Just win jags, but if we do lose, it doesn’t hurt nearly as bad this time considering we are not in the hunt. Please let us win in 2025.

Loss would be huge for us. Would put us from in line for the #4 pick to the #2 pick.

Agreed. Lets see if they can dig down deep and pull defeat from the jaws of victory somehow. It ll be tough, cause this Vegas team is baaad.

There's so little to shoot for at the top of this darft that I don't really care about dubs or ells. You're not going to get value whether you trade or pick where we are likely to land, yay us.

I just like that I can approach Sunday with the mindset of "how do we find a way to completely faceplant THIS week?" and I'm never disappointed. Sunday's endgame was hilarious.

Hoping for a loss for draft position is a loser mindset.

These are professional athletes.  They play to WIN THE GAME no matter what.  If/when they play for any other reason is the point that they need to get out of the game.  The same goes for coaches or anyone else on the staff.

I am hoping not only for a win, but a huge convincing win.

Wooo hoooo... Nothing screams winning and success like getting your 4th win of the season in week 16.

Who cares, lose and get higher draft selections. They're getting paid regardless.

We are already losers. We have achieved that. The longer term goal is to become winners, and drafting higher helps that. At least in theory.

LMAO! It's always good to see a splash of humor.

This game reminds me of the 'Reggie Bush bowl' between the Texans and 49ers, where both teams were desperate to lose.  At the end of the game the Texans kicker had a very makeable field goal to win the game, but the Texans kicker hooked it so bad it ended up into the corner of the stadium to ensure the loss.  I suppose Travis Hunter has taken the place of Reggie Bush, though as it turns out the Texans (correctly as it turns out) took Mario Williams over both Reggie Bush and Vince Young.

And who knows, maybe taking OT Will Campbell in the first round will ultimately be the right decision for the Jaguars.

I don't get the people wanting the Jags to win and get worse draft position. It's the difference between Travis Hunter or Mason Graham - or trading back and getting Mason Graham and an extra 2nd rounder. Time to face reality and just accept the fact that the Jags suck this year and probably will next year too. It's what makes us Jags fan unique - gluttons for punishment.

That we are my friend. As far as wanting better draft position, that’s a little tough for me. I’ve finally excepted the facts of this season, so a loss isn’t making mad anymore lol

However a win still feels good even if it hurts the draft some. The draft is almost like gambling especially with Balkie as the decision maker. There are no guarantees anyways.

Meh, I dont really care one way or the other.  If we win it will be nice and if we lose we get a higher draft position.  If we get the right GM it wont matter where we pick, we will be picking in the top 10 regardless

I disagree, there are a few elite plaers at the top of this draft.

I'll explain why I want them to win.

The season record is a measure of how good your team is.  This is the key point.  A 5-12 team is better than a 2-15 team.  A 5-12 team doesn't have as far to go to become a good team.  So in that sense, these last few games tell us how far we are from having a good team.  In that sense, I would rather have a 5-12 team than a 2-15 team.  Because rebuilding a 5-12 team is easier than rebuilding a 2-15 team.  You're starting with a better team.

Secondly, a high draft position hardly ever seems to make up for having a really [BLEEP] team.  Somehow, successful teams draft at the tail end of the first round year after year, and yet they remain successful.

How many times does the first pick in the draft wind up being the best player in that draft?  Hardly ever.  So having a high draft pick does not compensate for having a really [BLEEP] team.  I would rather have a less [BLEEP] team and a later draft pick.  No one gets better by getting worse.

The only good reason I can see for us to want to lose games is so Shad Khan will do a complete reset.  That's the only reason.  Not draft position.
