Trevor Lawrence: Franchise QB (TL Discussion, Merged Threads)

I think anybody with a set of eyes and half a brain feels the same. Trevor is like that ex we all have that we realize we took for granted and didn’t treat as well as we should have once we see the other garbage that is out there.

That's a great analogy. I get people getting frustrated with Trevor and plays but when you see what he was doing with what he had....damn he's a good QB.

Trevor's in a good place right now. He's at home with his increasingly pregnant wife while she raids the kitchen. And he has a bank account stuffed with money.

He's living the good life.

People aren't going to tell me Trevor isn't, at worst, as good as Bo Nix.

We'd be in the playoffs if he were healthy and we had two interior defensive tackles like the Broncos have.

Trevor will be fine once we improve the players around him.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

This roster would maybe win a couple more games at full strength. It's not a playoff roster, it's a bottom 5 roster.

He was totally out of it.  My concern at his young age he already has a couple of concussions along with other injuries. We can put blame on the why or how but the reality is he is taking a beating and may not have a long career in this league.

This shot is totally concerning for his future. He was in LaLa land. Totally not his fault because he did was he was suppose to do in that situation but nevertheless the impact of that shot combined with the others has to make any logical person doubt their longevity in this league.  I know we all want him to be the Prince that was promised and all that but reality after 4 years has to start setting in for some of you.

He's fine

chill

Well, actually he's not.  The next concussion could be his last.

We all know where things are going. The NFL will start mandatory retirements so the careers of players like Lawrence and Tua might be shortened.

I mean there are dozens of injuries that can be career ending.

It's coaching.

Trevor is the best QB.  But even the best QB can't produce under this type of dumpster fire.

LOL

The next injury/concussion could end any NFL player's career --  he isn't in some dire health situation. Not at all.

TL is fine

Can't wait to see him in a new offense. This season saw multiple QBs gain a newfound career in new schemes after they'd been written off. TL is still young and has elite arm talent even if he has work to do.

He's been saddled with a system that demands elite precision on an unnecessary amount of low percentage throws and caters to a one or two read progression. He need to be challenged on the mental side and schemed to excel with his actual skillset. Not limited to reading one side of the football field at a time while making his options there difficult to execute.

Doug [BLEEP] up. He thought he could half way dumb things down because TL was locking onto 2 reads.
Bad move. Should have developed his progression game.

Instead of maturing his pre snap and progression read abilities, he tried to limit his options and simultaneously forced him into too many difficult throws as a side effect.

Get him coaches that aren't afraid to coach him into scanning the whole damn field in 2 seconds after analyzing coverage pre-snap -  and a scheme that utilizes his skill and those of his receivers.
He'll flourish - even if it takes some mistakes to get there.

I think the sky is still the limit if he gets 20% better protection and a system designed around growing his game from his current strengths into something bigger.

Fingers crossed he has a new QB coach, a new OC and a new HC that are sold out to getting growing his game. Not half measuring it.

This may be the most critical offseason in Jags history

Don't we say that every year?

I think overall we can at least have a reasonable chance to win the AFC south next year with a good offseason. This is a horrible division, and CJ stroud regressed big time.

the most critical off-season for the "most talented team in Jaguars history".

In 2022, the same coach helped the Jaguars win the AFC South division on their way to the playoffs. The same coach was on the sideline when the Jaguars won a playoff game when they beat the Chargers.

Same coach helped the Jaguars get to 8-3 in 2023. Same coach that watched McManus miss a FG against the Bengals which would have helped the Jaguars get back to the playoffs in back to back seasons.

...And then what happened?

Don't worry though, the FO will help keep the Franchise healthy by drafting a cornerback in the first round. SUPER BOWL [BLEEP]
