The Most Disappointing player of the year?

#1

There is a long list so just state your player and your case.  I will list some honorable mentions and take it from there:

Most Disappointing Player of the year Award Nominations:

Trevor Lawrence: Outside of the injury he did not play to par this season. Outside of Russel Wilson Robbing Denver I have not seen a 6 figure QB play the low level that Lawrence does at times. For every Amazing throw he will back it up with 2 or 3 headscratchers.  Yes some blame can be placed on the talent around him but just looking at plays that were his fault is just mind boggling.  He isn't terrible just middle of the road at best. He has the tools but who know if that will ever come to fruition. The concussions in my mind are a huge red flag regardless of reason is something to be concerned about.  His play before the injury were miles worse than say the 8-3 run we started 2022 with.

Josh Allen:  His play overall was just kinda mediocre to say the least. We have to face the fact that Josh Allen/Travon Walker are not a good enough duo to consistently rush the QB.  Allen did not play no where near his contract this year.  Opposing QB's had too much time in the pocket in too many games this year while he was eating dirty or getting mauled.

The Offensive Line as a whole:  This really is a Jekyll/Hyde situation here.   The line is actually good in pass blocking most of the year. They just don't move people and open up running lanes.

Cisco:  I was drunk on the Cisco last year.  He has flat out sucked this year.  He has been beatin like a red headed step child in the passing game and not that great coming up to help in run support.  He had a chance to get a big contract and blew it

Armstead;  This guy is an overpaid bum.  I watch him get stood up constantly rushing the passer and getting whipped defending the run.  He is not that player from San Francisco.  Here is hoping that maybe the injury he went through is affecting his game and next year he returns healthy and productive.  Not good at all this year.

ETN:  What happened to that guy who was breaking off long runs, breaking ankles, and breaking tackles?  He is dancing too much in the backfield.  I highly doubt that he comes back

Tyson Campbell:  The guy is a good corner when healthy but again missed some time to injury again.  He is far and away our best corner but it's like saying he is the tallest midget.  Decent player but the contract does not match the production.

Kirk:  He is one of our highest paid guys and didn't do much of anything before his injury.  He had a 3 game stretch where he got close to breaking 100 yards but again the contract and the production do not match.  He was our weapon and now just forgotton

There are many other choices so you choose yours:

My pick is Lawrence.  I do not believe Lawrence was the worst player on the team but the expectations vs the hit on the cap vs the production just looks horrible in my mind.  Unpopular opinion but I do believe in this day and age that it starts with the QB.  I do believe if we had elite or even really good QB play that this would be a playoff team vs the soft schedule.  Just my opinion.

I thought I'd escape 2024 without another thread of how much you hate Trevor. Wishful thinking.

You want to criticise Trevor, do it in the Trevor thread like everyone else does.

I'm disappointed in the overall lack of consistent execution by the vast majority of the players and the poor preparation performed by the coaching staff.

I don't need to pinpoint a guy.

I will say the safeties were miserably bad and every corner not named Campbell got exposed badly.

Andre Cisco....then Ronald Darby...then Gabe Davis.

All equally disappointing.

But the MOST disappointing has been our Trent Baalke/49ers hookup signing that I thought was going to be a knock out of the park. Thought for sure it would fix our defensive interior line woes...

You know of who I speak.

Brandon Scherff is no longer that dude.   Next season I want him gone.

Yep. It’s spam at this point.

There’s a Trevor thread, take it there

Exactly. This could have been a chance to start a debate about player performances and guys who are avoiding the blame that's being put on other players and coaches.

Instead we get - 'I do believe if we had elite or even really good QB play that this would be a playoff team vs the soft schedule'

So it's literally all on Trevor. Ignore the D is 32nd in pass yards per game (357.7yds), has the lowest turnover in the league (9, next team is Cleveland with 12) and 31st in yards per game (387.5yds). It's all on Trevor's QB play.

I'm amazed how he keeps getting away with it at this point.

I think we have a bunch of underperforming players  on defense.  I suspect much of it has to do with our defensive coordinator.  However, I will give it to Armstead given how much he was paid.

Those 3 and Lloyd were the worse imo.

I am so ready to move on from Kirk, Scherff (been ready for 2 years) and Lloyd.

I am a fan, not a cheerleader.

The worse part is that Baalke offered/signed major extensions to 3 players on the list. Even if he's fired and replaced those extensions will still be around with the new GM. Hopefully the new coach (if that happens) can get those players to live up to their contract numbers.

Trick question- the punter is always the most disappointing player

Gabe Davis is the biggest disappointment.
Armstead at least played in each game.
Gabe got outplayed by a sixth rounder.
My fellow southpaw Mark Brunell will probably always be my favorite Jaguar.

Hard to be a disappointment when there were no expectations of success to start with.

There are many worthy candidates for this, but my pick is Cisco. Going into this season, the expectations were sky-high for him. Instead, he will likely be with another team who is willing to pay him more than the Jaguars. He'll likely end up like Quincey Williams, Chaisson and several other ex-Jaguars who performed significantly better after leaving Jacksonville.

Trevor for sure, absolutely couldn't even get into any kind of offensive rhythm this season, and the season ending injury/surgery was the nail in the coffin. I had a feeling that new contract during the off-season was going to jinx it. Sure enough

When there are that many "disappointing players" there is something else going on, and the problem isn't the players.

My expectations of Davis was to be mildly competent and contribute. I was disappointed.
