Chained inmates now helping to fight the fires.  What could go wrong?

There is an inmate/firefighter conservation camp program that's been going on for years. There are strict parameters that the inmates have to meet in order to be eligible to live and train at the camp and work with Cal Fire. I watched a documentary about it on Netflix about 8 years ago. Here's the info. And to my knowledge they're not chained together. I don't remember that from the documentary. These are minimum security inmates.

The primary mission of the Conservation (Fire) Camp Program is to support state, local and federal government agencies as they respond to emergencies including fires, floods, and other natural disasters. Additionally, hand crews respond to rescue efforts in local parks or flood suppression.

CDCR, in cooperation with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) and the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACFD), jointly operates 35 conservation camps, commonly known as fire camps, located in 25 counties across California. All camps are minimum-security facilities and staffed with correctional staff.

This is good. Currently the EU and other countries when they want money make a new rule. Then sue our large companies for violating that rule during the time before the rule was made. They then assess million/billions in fines. We should do the same.

Warren’s question was valid. That was a cheap deflection by Hegseth. If he’s going to be a leader, then he needs to abide by the rules he sets for others.

If Warren's question was anything more than a cheap attempt at a "gotcha" moment she would have rephrased it. She would have said something like"If you are confirmed will you abide by the same policy that you want the generals to follow? "  Since she didn't then it was the former not the latter.

She was holding him to his own standards. 

I’m for Hegseth’s nomination but if he’s going to set standards, he needs to enthusiastically agree to follow them himself. Rephrasing the question doesn’t change its intent.
