Best 6th Round Pick in Jaguars History

I figured with the Evans talk this was as good a place as any for this.   It's an article about the secondary/safety positions.  Mentions a bit about the battle set up with Guy/Evans for the FS spot.

Quote:Yawn....citing "he starts" means little. How did he play?? Mostly invisible. I remember Gene Smith being given a lot of credit after his first draft because of all those starters he drafted.....well, its easy to have your draft picks start when the roster is gutted. Whether those "starters" are actually good is what determines their worth.

Evans has been a nothing so far.

I have a solution. Don't vote for Evans.

Zach Miller, I guess.

5th round doesn't look much better tbh.  Though I guess there's Scobee at least.

Might explain why we're in the situation we're in.  It's been a long time since we've found a real gem in the late rounds.  That's where success comes from.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

I was looking at the 6th rounders and there are quite a few years where the team did not even have a 6th round pick. And the other years are just butt ugly.

Quote:Like I said, because you don't watch the games you wouldn't notice that Evans was a pretty good tackler and has good speed and passion for the game. And what if he didn't start? You would rag on him for not starting also.

I watched every game the Jaguars played, ever. Evans shown very little.

I voted for Shelton.

I was going to say that was our best sixth round pick.

The pick has a lot going for it already, and we haven't even selected yet.

Damion Shelton... another easy vote if you ask me.

Now the 5th rounder will be a tough one....

Shelton by default, I guess. Evans could still surprise me, but I'm of the opinion that he has no business in the secondary, and should learn to love the kick coverage team.

You are correct. Evans will soon find himself on ST's if not worse (cut). He's really not that good.

Evans gets an incomplete. I thought he was fine for a rookie 3rd day choice with little help from the pass rush.

He takes every opportunity he can to insult the Gator and Seminole Fans on the board.  He looks at them as hayseed homers.

It's just hilarious because Josh Evans is widely not even mentioned, ever amongst Jags fans or the local media.  He gets about as much press or praise as Winston Guy or someone like that.

TMD is just clueless and his agenda is so obvious.

I had to go look up a Jags draft history list to believe that the 6th round has been truly that bad to produce these names on a 'best of choice' list.  Wow, the 6th has not been pretty.  Daimon Shelton was a decent starter for awhile, and gave him the vote.  However, Mike Harris may win the vote shortly, if he can stick on the roster and play again this year.

I thought this was a fairly easy one for Shelton.  Although he had very little in terms of "stats", he was a decent blocking fullback for us for four years.  This has been a very bad round for the Jaguars.  It's amazing that we've had 20 sixth round picks and these are the best we can muster.  We've actually done better in the seventh round.  We'll have to see if Evans or Harris develop.  I did this voting thing (best pick by round) two years ago.  The sixth round was the only round where I couldn't come up with five legitimate names.  Keep in mind that this was even before Evans and Harris and I didn't see Price as being worth mentioning.  I used three names that were also done here -- Shelton, Miller and Thomas.  For a fourth, I put Deji Karim.  He did return some kicks returns for us.  Again, that's pretty sad drafting when we're talking about these players as the best picks.
