Quote:I am serious. I have yet to a still or a video that clearly shows Marquez planting his foot without hitting Robben in the process.I thought he stepped on his foot? Stepping on, and hitting are vastly different.

Quote:Or you are visually impaired.Or maybe just able to see that the Mexican defender was outplayed and over committed, arriving too late for the challenge and, by stepping on Robben's foot, creating enough of an obstruction for Robben for the ref to award a penalty. Something, I might add, they had been doing all day, especially in the last 20 minutes when Robben turned up his level of play and was passing Mexican defenders left and right. Quote:Or maybe just able to see that the Mexican defender was outplayed and over committed, arriving too late for the challenge and, by stepping on Robben's foot, creating enough of an obstruction for Robben for the ref to award a penalty.I agree with everything you said minus stepping on the foot, which didn't happen, and is clearly seen. I've never argued against, or disagreed with any other point.

Seems to me that there is to much variance in the judges calls, to much left to individual judgement. Some penalties seem very minor while other ones seem severe and are not called. That one came at such a time where the outcome was almost a given to allow advancement in the tournament for them. I do believe they would have won in the end regardless.

There are many sports that have 2 or 3 refs that have to make a call for it to count. I was watching Greco Roman, and to get a point, foul, anything....2 of the 3 judges have to agree. Putting something like this into effect for futbol would be an improvement. It's easy for one person to be bribed/show partiality....but adding 2 more to the process will make things much more legit.

Maybe at least replay of penalties that occur in the box.

Question for all serious and knowledgeable soccer fans: since flopping is a part of the game, do you think it's bad for the game or make no difference? Do you think it's a good idea to penalize players -- fined or even suspension -- should they continue to flop or would it ruin the game in the long term?

Do you think it's a good idea to penalize players -- fined or even suspension -- should they continue to flop or would it ruin the game in the long term?Opinion I think. In my opinion, it takes away from the game. I say if a player goes down and is "injured" there be a set time for them to sit out. That would curb much of these serious "injuries". Robben went down like he got hit by a car, and that was a simple foul, a trip, not a hard one whatsoever.

Why does Germany have Algeria's uniforms on?

It doesn't eliminate all bad calls i.e the infamous Green Bay/Seattle MNF game, but it's better than nothing. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Why do you keep bringing up the NFL here? Irrelevant in this thread. It's relevant in it's relation to the idea that just adding refs will remove or reduce errors in officiating. The NFL clearly shows it doesn't. Quote:But we have video replays and coaches challenge should there is a questionable call. It doesn't eliminate all bad calls i.e the infamous Green Bay/Seattle MNF game, but it's better than nothing. That's the only thing I want to see soccer add; a video review system. But not the one they have in the NFL, I want something similar to the system used in field hockey.
