Winston purchases BIG insurance policy

Quote:Will you explain to me the difference between "lock" and "sure-fire first pick"? I figured they were pretty interchangeable phrases.

I just think Jameis is a different kind of player and different kind of prospect than Teddy.  If we're talking about "locks" I would say Jameis has a much better chance than Bridgewater.

That's what Teddy fans were saying a year ago though. How do you not see my point? Also, you just said "there is no such thing" anymore, but now you try to defend your buddy?

Quote:That's all I was saying. I was under the impression the FSU fan up there was calling him a #1 overall lock due to his "sure-fire first pick" statement.

Who are you talking about?

Quote:I don't think it is just here. I think most people assume he will be an Andrew Luck type sure-fire first pick.

I agree though, that he isn't that type of prospect. His pocket presence and movement in the pocket leaves alot to be desired. He had some Leftwichesque moments last year. He will be picked apart as bad (or worse) than Manziel was this year.

Teddy fans were wrong.  Come back to me at this time next year, and you will see I am much more closer to being right about Jameis than they were.

He was being hyped up by his teammates and coaches before they played a game....and then he proved it.

I'm not even an FSU fan, I just trust what I saw with my eyes.

Then why get so defensive when I simply state that "sure-fire 1st picks" have a history of not really being that sure-fire at all?

Did you miss the part where I said that I, too, believe Winston will go 1st overall? I just think that there is no such thing as a "sure-fire" 1st overall pick. Too many things can change in the course of the year (both on and off the field, like you stated).

People use the word defensive around here too often when its not true.  I'm not defensive, its a discussion and I'm standing by my opinion.  It isnt even close to being defensive.

-The thread was about a college football superstar taking out an insurance policy because of the possibility of an injury or illness knocking him to the 2nd round.

-A poster mentioned that people are already calling Winston a "sure-fire 1st pick".

-I mentioned that talking about a "sure-fire 1st pick" this early is pretty dumb. I mentioned a player that some (not Diesel) considered a "sure-fire 1st pick" but almost fell to the 2nd round.

How was my initial post creating an argument or anything of the such? I think it is very relevant to note that perception on a player can greatly change over the course of a year.

Character concerns are the reason he doesn't deserve to be a top 10 pick but comparing this kid to Leftwich is b.s. His motion isn't even similar to Byron Leftwich's. Post some footage and compare their releases, obviously you dudes have never seen it to be saying it's close to Winston's.

Look at FSU line and notice( SR,SR,SR,SR,SR)and the TE SR also top WR SR

He would be an absolute fool not to leave

PS; SR means Senior

You took still shots at completely different points of their motion. Your picture is an apples to oranges comparison. I'm not saying that the two have similar wind-ups, but at least give a fair comparison to prove that.

There have been many "sure-fire 1st picks" before.  Just because Teddy Bridgewater didnt make it through the year doesn't mean Jameis Winston or anyone else wont.

I said Leftwichesque moments. Didn't say he was a carbon copy of the guy. And I said nothing about his throwing motion. I am talking about his movement in the pocket. Watch the Auburn game.

Watch the auburn game you'll see a first half where old fsu assistant and current wr Dameyune Craig knew the Florida states signals in the first half hence why the trash secondary was all over the fsu wr's. Second half once florida state changed the signals up jameis went 16-18 I believe
