Winston purchases BIG insurance policy

Pays out $8 million-$10 million if he falls out of the first round of the draft due to injury or illness. Also strongly implies he is coming out this year.

I just don't see him as the clear-cut #1 pick others on here think he is from what I have seen so far. If this draft taught us anything, don't even listen to the pre-draft hype. I'm sure he and Mariota will swap positions every week in mock drafts.

I'm sure he and Mariota will swap positions every week in mock drafts. I don't think it is just here. I think most people assume he will be an Andrew Luck type sure-fire first pick. I agree though, that he isn't that type of prospect. His pocket presence and movement in the pocket leaves alot to be desired. He had some Leftwichesque moments last year. He will be picked apart as bad (or worse) than Manziel was this year.
I would take Mariota over him any day of the week. Cleaner off-field, better athleticism, better deep ball, and better delivery. The only things to like about Winston are medium accuracy and his leadership qualities, IMO.

2015 NFL Draft - Analyzing Targets www.jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/topic/7892-2015-nfl-draft-analyzing-targets/
Wonder if that covers lawsuit payments for his next rape trial!
seriously though, I dont see him as Andrew Luck either but I cant imagine him falling the way a Geno or Teddy did. He has the size and the arm. And while he isnt overly athletic running, he isnt a statue like Leftwich. (although admittedly he does look a little like Leftwich at times.... every now and then he has a longer windup similar to Leftwich). But all that stuff can be fixed. I'd be stunned if he fell out of the top 10. The only way I see that happening is if he has more off the field problems and teams get scared. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. So he's going pro next year? The only shocker here comes from FSU fans who really thought he would stay thru his senior season.

They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:This is what people were saying about Bridgewater, too. How'd that turn out? Are people kidding themselves when they compare Jameis to Bridgewater? Jameis is in a different league. Sure he has a lot of work to do as far as mechanics, but the guy has played one year in college and was pretty dynamic. His athletic skills are off the chart for a qb. Where did I compare the two as QBs? At this time last year, a lot of people (including posters on this board) were saying that Teddy Bridgewater was a can't miss #1 pick nearing Andrew Luck levels of a prospect. Things change. The year before that, people were mocking Geno Smith #2 to the Jaguars if not #1 to the Chiefs. Things change.

You don't realize how much you sound the the Bridgewater fans last year? "Bridgewater is not Geno Smith. Bridgewater is 10x the prospect Geno was." 1. I think Jameis Winston is the likely #1 overall pick next year, so quit being so defensive. 2. I'm just stating that things can change over a year.
Quote:You don't realize how much you sound the the Bridgewater fans last year? I didn't believe in Bridgewater last year...I also haven't heard a lot of talk about next years draft. I'm making my mind up with my own eyes and opinions. Jameis Winston may not be the number one pick, but if I were a team that needed a qb, I'd go for that. The thing that will hurt Jameis is his personal choices to this point, and he isn't as polished as Luck. If he can makes gains in that area (and just stay out of trouble) then he's a no brainer.

All I'm saying is that it is too early to be calling someone a "lock" to be the #1 overall pick.

Quote:Who called him a "lock"? Nobody in this thread. Lol, he has his issues on and off the field. There's no such thing anymore.
Quote:Who called him a "lock"? Nobody in this thread. Will you explain to me the difference between "lock" and "sure-fire first pick" is? I figured they were pretty interchangeable phrases.
Quote:Lol, he has his issues on and off the field. There's no such thing anymore. That's all I was saying. I was under the impression the FSU fan up there was calling him a #1 overall lock due to his "sure-fire first pick" statement. |
