Quote:That has to make our defensive effort historically bad as well. the fact that the score was not 6-7 to 1 was amazing. I guess I am not soccer savvy enough to understand how Klinsmann thought we could win by just sitting on our goal playing defense? The formation was 4-3-3, which is more offensive based. The problem for team USA is lack of talent. The offense couldn't hold onto possession and kept giving it back to Belgium. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:We just aren't good enough. I applaud the effort. You are a glass half empty kind of guy, aren't you? lol For a good part of that last 15 minutes, we put the pressure on them that they put on us for the whole second half. A few more German American defenders and we have a shot.

I guess I am not soccer savvy enough to understand how Klinsmann thought we could win by just sitting on our goal playing defense? I'm not either, but just imagine if we weren't pulling everyone back to help....they would have had even more chances. Once we went on the offensive towards the end we opened it up, but also gave them one on one matches where they pushed forward quick.
Now that the US is eliminated, we get to listen to all the middle aged white sportwriters tell us why American won't care about soccer until 2018.
Yeah. Quote:I'm not either, but just imagine if we weren't pulling everyone back to help....they would have had even more chances.I suppose that points to exactly what The AsianIdiot posted earlier, lack of talent. They looked clearly out matched other than a few bursts here and there.

Looking forward to the MLS as they continue to gain momentum. Can't wait for Orlando to get thier new stadium built. Hopefully, they create an environment that Seattle and Portland have.

It will be difficult to duplicate that kind of excitement. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

One thing I think in Orlando's favor is they have grown organically as a soccer club. Orlando City was a successful USL team and they are basically moving up to MLS. Something like Atlanta on the other hand, is a true expansion team. They have an NASL franchise but this is a different club. Based on Atlanta's history, I cannot say for sure that their MLS team will be a success. Quote:One thing I think in Orlando's favor is they have grown organically as a soccer club. I have not been to any of the Orlando City games, but I cant imagine the fan turnout was anything close to Seattle or Portland. They might see a boost as a new MLS team, but I don't know if Orlando will support it like they do the Magic.

Orlando has a large population of Brazilians, and I believe a part of the ownership is Brazilian. They also just signed Kaka....seems to be a trend.
wish they'd change their team colors -- i don't care for purple for sports teams.
wish they'd change their mascot -- what's up with the lion king !! wish they'd change their name -- change soccer club to FC We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

In the USL (which is basically the AA level) they drew over 8k per game. Doesn't sound like a lot but it is for that level of soccer. Those are similar numbers to what Portland drew as a USL franchise before making the same jump to MLS.
Quote:I can't imagine an NASL team would draw close to an MLS team anyway. Yes, a very wealthy Brazilian owner. Would not shock me to see other older Brazilian players end up in Orlando. Tough to compare the turnout of a team in a league below MLS to those two, and when I say tough, I mean you can't. Also, support of the Magic has waned the last few years. Same as any city, win, and they will come. Lose, and they will fall off gradually.

I understand that. I was just letting this guy know that if he is expecting an environment like Seattle or Port, that is unlikely. Quote:I understand that. Those are awesome to watch on TV. I would LOVE to see one live. Don't care if it is in Seattle or Portland (although I think if I had to pick I would go at Portland.)
