Waiver Claims

He's got good size, former 7th rounder from the Dolphins.  It sounds like he's bounced around the league quite a bit.

*EDIT* I was wrong, he was a Vikings 7th rounder.

Junior.

This is his 8th shot at making a team so I'm not holding out much hope, welcome him here all the same though.

Not sure why we put a claim on this longshot to ever amount to anything....and yet pass on a high ceiling guy like Hill.... :ermm:

Clearly 31 other teams didn't feel the same way you do about Hill as nobody has claimed him.

I don't think overpaying is always good, nor always bad. In this case we desperately needed a center, if my team I would have technically overpaid, to avoid what we have now, a 6th round untested draft pick running the line. This line has no depth and quality, you take away Joeckel it's really a bunch of free agents or close to it. Yes I know Linder went right at the 300th pick but a lot of scouts thought even that was a reach. If the Jags didn't take him I doubt anyone was going to jump on him before the 6th round.

The fact is our OL as a whole,( both starters and backups), are primarily street free agents, late round picks, and one FA castoff from Denver, that is an indication the GM considers LT a valued position and the rest of the line a dime a dozen.

No they cannot fix all the weak areas overnight, and Maybe Dave did all he could, but I cannot imagine a decent running game this season.  I hope to be wrong...

Falcons claimed Nate Stupar.

They also seemed to like Shuler: http://boards.atlantafalcons.com/topic/4...r-claimed/

Wow, I hope Jensen makes the practice squad. I thought he looked decent.

Jensen > Shuler.
Jensen sucks.

Schuler probably does as well. Oh well.

I was hoping for a younger guy with potential, but everyone knew we would be claiming a TE because of how thin the position really is.

On a side note, it appears the 49ers and Boone have agreed to a re-worked deal that gets him on the field. For 2015 anyway.  It looks as if they added provisions that prevent the team from tagging him next offseason, so he'll be available.

I thought Jensen had real potential as a receiving weapon at the position.

Shuler's bounced around the league already.

I thought he did too. Hopefully they keep him on the practice squad.

I'm sure Jensen will clear waivers and they'll put him on the PS.

The Falcons fans really liked Shuler, looks like he's not a great blocker but a very good receiver.

I imagine the expectation is to put Jensen on the 10 man PS.

Shuler looks like a blocking TE.  I don't know for sure because I know little about him but his size and stats in college make it appear that way.

If that's the case, it makes sense, the team is going to need some assistance in the blocking department at least early in the season while the line gets figured out.  Particularly run blocking.

I fully expect a young, athletic passing threat TE to be added next offseason.

I think Schuler will probably get cut once Harbor is back. Jensen had a good OTA, but in training camp he wasn't that good.. Didn't show much in preseason either so he's not worth worrying about.
