Yet, in the 4th QTR, I thought he was one of the keys to the Chiefs cementing the game away. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:Looking good against the Steelers. We must have very different definitions of good. Quote:He's been pretty bad so far but I get your point.Haha, that's being extremely considerate. He has been downright terrible. Thank God the Chiefs screwed the pooch with that pick and handed us Joeckel.
Geno played like a rookie today. Throw into triple coverage was ugly and was hit while throwing on the the other pick. I didn't think he was ready to play this early but he has played well enough.

Using pick # 1 on an Offensive Tackle has yet to cost them a game. More importantly, they have a foundation piece on their roster. To be fair, OT doest make or break a game. If Alex Smith stinks it up like he did in his early days in San Fran or the Chiefs defense has an off day, they lose their game.
Geno is just that, rookie who has on and off days. He played three good games and three bad games. It's fair to say the 2nd round was where he was best fit. Caldwell made the right decision to passed on him in the first round.

Basically, the point I was trying to make is that the Chiefs decision to take an Offensive Tackle with pick # 1 of the 2013 Draft didn't come remotely close to derailing their season. Taking away nothing from the positives Geno Smith has provided the Jets through 6 games, I'm 100 % sure that the Chiefs brass still believes they made the right decision taking a blue chip OT prospect instead of Geno Smith or any other QB in the 2013 Draft. Time will tell which Offensive Tackle turns out to be the best in the 2013 crop. Many 1st Round picks at all positions go through major growing pains before the NFL game becomes natural for them.. This is what I expect to happen with the 3 Offensive Tackles that were taken in the top 4 of this draft.

But did he make the right decision to pass on him in the second?

Quote:But did he make the right decision to pass on him in the second? This is my question. I was one who really saw star potential in Geno and was really upset that we passed over him in the second round. I have faith that Caldwell knows what he is doing but I have really no understanding of why we passed on him in the second.
I don't know what happened with him during the draft process. There were talks of him showing slight arrogance, so I guess maybe GMs couldn't get pass that.
Too early to say he's going to be a star, but he has potential. He needs to he consistent first.
2 of the Jets wins came on bad penalties by the other team. Geno has played pretty good though.
