Has the team really not made progress? A quick look.

My point was Henne's last two starts, the game was over before halftime. At least with Bortles first two starts, the games were within reach after 2 o'clock.

How do you even conjure such a statement?
Your beliefs become your thoughts,
Your thoughts become your words,
Your words become your actions,
Your actions become your habits,
Your habits become your values,
Your values become your destiny.

I understand that, and yes, we were more competitive...but when does wins and losses matter?

Has this team really made some progress, well like the NFL analyst are saying, need a win come too Jacksonville. Unfortunately they are not wrong so far.  We have shown that we can and could keep games close in the 1st half and last weeks game only to finish empty handed. Now are the players getting tired or is it they are not being coached or conditioned to win.

This weeks game is a possible and a must win or face a 0-6. The Jaguars are a desperate team, and even though the Titans do give up leads the Titians also have put up some big numbers. And they always play us tuff. We on the other hand have not produced large gains in points to stay close. Last week game against the Steelers was close is that the Steelers are not a good team. Our lack of progress was noticed after the interception we couldn't move the ball . The running game is still terrible , balls that are catchable are being dropped,  and we leave 6 plays or more on the field.

So I guess it takes Gus the season to get going, so we just have to wait and see at the seasons end to really see any noticeable progress. Just saying.

Wins and losses start mattering next year.  This year, we want to see progress and competitiveness.  So far we haven't seen much of it.  This Sunday will be the first window.  If we lose, that window will be half-closed.  If we lose in a blowout, it'll be completely closed.

If we're still winless after the Miami game -- and if we're still not being competitive, then I'd say it's time to start questioning this coaching staff's ability.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Why don't wins and losses mean anything this year?  I get the sense that that is the biggest gap between the two factions of fans.  Everyone agrees with how bad we are, but some are upset about it and others are accepting of it.  Consider me one of the former.  I'm upset about how bad we are.  It's not acceptable to look as putrid as we have this year.  We need to start winning some games.

Progress -- Having a Franchise QB

That trumps everything we've done in the past 5 years.

I'll take any improvement I can get, do I wish it was better? Of course.

My statement was in reply to someone implying that Henne was getting the blame but was not a problem. Considering the two starts by a rookie have been more competitive than two starts by a veteran, he clearly was.

Shouldn't be that hard to understand.

Nobody is happy with how badly they have played thus far this season, but as was stated above, this year was never about wins and losses.  It was about getting better, and being competitive.  So far that hasn't been the case, but we're 5 games into the season with an extremely young roster at some pretty critical positions.  It's going to take time to develop the momentum.

I think we saw the first indication of that against Pittsburgh when we held the 4th best offense in the league under their averages for points and yards per game.  The offense struggled, but with the changes on the line, and rookie receivers running around out there still trying to understand the nuances involved in being effective at this level, that would be expected.

If the team continues to languish when we get to the bye week and beyond, then maybe there's a reason to be concerned.  There's a lot of football to play yet, and a lot of time for the team to develop and improve.  With as much youth as we've got out there, I fully expect to see the team gradually get better as the season progresses.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I dont really understand all this talk of inexperience.....

The Rams are a younger team than us, have a backup QB starting, and are arguably just as devoid of offensive talent- yet have put up back to back 30 point games. Granted, both were losses, but they are miles ahead of us for some reason, despite their huge question mark at QB.

Reconcile that.

....yeah, and Pitt's defense is nothing special this year and had Mike Glennon drop 28 points on them on their own field the week prior to beat them.

They also had one of their best players out vs the Jags (Shazier).

Fisch's offense totals 9 points against them, at home.

Progress

Yep, and Austen Davis was a mere UNDRAFTED free agent QB.

2 straight 300 yard, 3 TD games for him.

Just goes to show, you don't have to put the shackles on the young QB and run a conservative offense if you don't want to.

They have a very experienced coach.

It makes a huge difference when you have a young and inexperienced team.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Jeff Fisher still sucks.  I blame him for the derailing of the Jaguars franchise.

I realize this is a totally illogical thing, but seriously I can't stand Jeff Fisher.

screw the tacks!

So we have an inexperienced coach leading an inexperienced team. Didn't someone in charge realize this might not be the best combination?

We're hoping (without evidence so far) that both will eventually improve.

Swell.
