They can't tackle, they can't pass protect, they make boneheaded mistakes coming into week 6 of the season...there's an issue here.

Screens are our friend, and Bortles is good at it. I was happy with the play calling.

Too early to call Joeckel a bust IMO. He needs an entire off-season in the big boys weight room, then we can make a decision on him after next season.

Well, Bortles did his job. There were massive let downs all over though. We -almost- scraped out a win on a 1-4 team playing their backup qb. If that is getting better, we're really in trouble.

Whitehurst isn't even mediocre, he's bottom of the barrel when it comes to backups! 3rd tier BACKUPS! 

 

Yup, Whitehurst handicapped them more than our defense "stopped" them.

I wouldn't be as worried if he didn't completely stink it up at RT, that was the reason we shipped off Monroe to move him to his "natural" position.

Gus is at best a good coordinator. He should never have been a head coach. His game management is lousy.

With 17 seconds you run one more play to the outside or throw the ball away if you have to. The loner the field goal the lower the kick and greater chance for a block!,,,, He didn't block the kick but he did set it up by not giving Blake a chance to get the ball in better field goal position!

Well, his int was on hurns falling down and should have been complete. The other turnover was on Shorts on what was another good play for Bortles. Both were inside the 20. He was given terrible field position all game. The guy was getting pressured constantly, and still got us in field goal range for the win at the end.


What more can I ask, catch his own balls and kick the winning field goal?

I hate mediocrity. But defenses usually blitz rookie QBs and screens are exactly what I'd expect to see to back them off and open up the passing game (with our garbage running backs).

Everyone loves to beat up on the Guy but he was right about Shack, Gene, JDR, and it looks like he's right about Gus. I'd even argue he's stopping short David Caldwell has been an absolute failure, two years in and we can't even field a competitive team. 

 

That was the second time our secondary David put together got torched by a backup QB. The tacks had what 1 sack coming into this game? That was our STARTING offensive line out there giving up 4 sacks. 

 

Outside of Bortles we're worse at every position then when David came in.

 

Tell me I'm over reacting? Show me some proof we're still headed in the right direction? I want to believe but I don't see it.....

17 seconds and you don't run one more play. Bradley lost this game with very poor coaching. we should have had a time out but for poor chalanges. Blake is the real deal but he can't carry the secondary and offensive line.

12 seconds. And how do you blame Bradley for not going for it but also blame the offensive line for bad blocking? What happens if he's sacked trying to get a couple extra yards? Game over.

I asked if he was right because we had a pretty lengthy thread just this week where just about everyone was convinced he'd gone off the deep end to suggest Bradley is way over his head.

 

I wasn't convinced before this week Bradley was in over his head, I am now.
