Who else do you think will be fired?

 

 Eventually Bears Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker will probably be let go.   As of now,  Tucker and most of the Bears Coaching Staff haven't been fired.    The Bears new HC probably will keep some of the Bears coaches that were on Marc Trestman's staff.  But it's hard to envision Tucker returning as the team's Defensive Coordinator.

Usually the new head coach fires most or all assistants to get his own guys. When that happens, Mel Tucker will be fired at the same time as other Bears assistants. I expect the Jets and Falcons to replace their assistant coaches too.

Buffalo probably will not fire Doug Marrone. The reason he may be on shaky ground is the fact that new owners like to get their own coaches.

I think he should stay because the Bills won nine games in 2014. The Bills can only get better from here.

I can't say that with much confidence knowing that their starting QB just retired on them and they lack a first round draft pick this year to try to obtain one via the draft.

At a minimum if he was smart he would opt out of the contract and ask to renegotiate considering the uphill climb he's going to be facing. Right now he has the leverage and it could possibly net him some job security.

Marrone, according to Rapoport, asked for a contract extension from the new ownership. They declined, and he opted to leave with a financial going away present. Marrone will gets $4 million as part of his opt-out, according to Rapoport.

 

I guess the new owners declining to extend his contract made him feel unwanted in Buffalo.

I don't know what to think of this paragraph from NFL.com:

 

Expect the Jets to show "considerable interest" in Marrone, who likely wouldn't leave a head coaching job without great options. Frank Reich is one name to watch in the Bills coaching search.

 

Has anyone heard or read about a Marrone-to-Jets or Reich-to-Bills rumor? No other details were given in the article.

49ers: Rex Ryan, Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Broncos OC Adam Gase, Browns OC Kyle Shanahan, 49ers DL coach Jim Tomsula, Cardinals DC Todd Bowles, UCLA head coach Jim Mora. Ryan and Gase already scheduled interviews.

 

Bears: Chris Ballard (Chiefs), Mark Ross (Giants), Lake Dawson (Titans), and Vince Newsome (Ravens) for general manager. For head coach, they will interview Quinn and Gase. Ernie Accorsi will serve as a consultant for both positions.

 

Falcons: They will interview Ryan, Quinn and Gase; requested permission to talk to McDaniels; and are expected to call Bowles and Lions assistant Teryl Austin.

 

Jets: They will interview offensive line coach Tom Cable and Quinn; requested permission to interview Bowles, Chargers OC Frank Reich, and Ravens OC Gary Kubiak; and are expected to strongly consider Doug Marrone. For general manager, they will interview Bill Kuharick (Browns), Trent Kirchner (Seahawks), Mike Maccagnan (Texans), and Rick Mueller (Eagles). Several more assistant coaches are unemployed.

 

The Saints are "parting ways" with wide receivers coach Henry Ellard, tight ends coach Terry Malone, and defensive backs coach Andre Curtis.

 

The Buccaneers were denied permission to interview Titans tight ends coach MIke Mularkey. Their former offensive coordinator was not named in the article.

 

The 49ers gave the Redskins permission to interview defensive backs coach Ed Donatell, but not defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Chargers linebackers coach Joe Barry also will get an interview for the defensive coordinator job.

 

Watch out for rumors about Fangio staying in San Francisco. Denying the Redskins an interview could mean he is one of their many candidates. Another possibility is keeping him as an assistant no matter who their next head coach is.
