Coach and GM change tracker

Quote:Now it is time to start thinking about how this will affect the coach searches for five other teams. Will they try to hire Adam Gase ASAP to prevent him from getting an in-house promotion? Will Gase say he wants to stay in Denver now that he is a candidate to replace John Fox? This could get very interesting because all six teams that had head coach vacancies interviewed him.

Gase was fired.

He is listed as the only candidate to replace John Fox right now. The 49ers are closing in on him.

Wow. Someone (I don't know who) wrote on NFL.com a possible reason for Fox's departure was to promote Gase. Obviously that rumor is dead now.

Their top candidate is Dan Quinn, who wants Kyle Shanahan to be his offensive coordinator.

Lebeau to Arizona makes to much sense.

Surprised they didn't look for an offensive minded HC. While he may be a better HC than Ryan and they did need a change, seems kinda like a lateral move right now for the Jets.

They made the Falcons stop talking to Todd Bowles, who was one of their favorites.

Now the Falcons have to root for the Packers Sunday so they can interview Dan Quinn again.

The key question,  at least from my perspective,  is will the Falcons even wait until Sunday Night or Monday in order to potentially have the opportunity to interview Dan Quinn again?

If they like him enough, five days are not too many to wait.

The Falcons will interview Teryl Austin again Thursday.

The Teryl Austin interview # 2 with the Falcons has been rescheduled for today.   Originally,  the Falcons were going to interview Todd Bowles again today,  before he decided to accept the Jets HC offer.

Trying to look at this from a Falcons point of view,  even assuming that they wait until after Sunday's game to potentially have the opportunity to interview Dan Quinn again,   how can they be confident enough that Quinn would accept a contract offer?   Especially,  if the Broncos make Quinn their # 1 target.    And this is assuming that the Seahawks,  a 7 1/2 favorite,  will lose on Sunday.

As much as I want to see Teryl Austin remain with the Lions at least one more season,    if I was in the Falcons position,   I would offer Austin the HC job today or tomorrow.    Being that 3 other teams still looking for a HC have either interviewed Austin or requested permission from the Lions to interview him,   the Falcons would be taking at least some risk they could lose Austin if they hestitate.
