2015 Free Agents - Who Do You Want?

Do they find a way to keep both Cobb and Bulaga? The players both know they can wait until free agency starts to see what other teams are offering. Unless those guys love Green Bay and want to play there, they may not agree to anything before the start of FA. The Jags need to chase hard after either one of them if they have the chance IMO.

Current projected 2015 Cap Space for Green Bay Packers: $25.325 Million

Can the Packers afford to re-sign Brian Bulaga and Randal Cobb with 25.325 Mil of available cap space?

One would think so.

Quote:As far as Julius Thomas is concerned, the general feeling is that once he is separated from Peyton Manning, he will not be the Premium TE that he appears to be with Peyton Manning. You don't overpay players like Julius Thomas. Just look at what happened with Mike Wallace and the Dolphins. The Dolphins overpaid a WR that without Rothlisberger just was not the same player.

Regarding Bulaga, anything is possible, but usually when a team wants a player and a player enjoys being with the team, then two sides make a deal and that is what I see as happening with Bulaga and the Packers.

If you want to hold onto to hope that Bulaga hits Free Agency, then God Bless you, you go ahead and do that.

But Julius Thomas is an exceptionally fast TE with great hands and plenty of talent in his own right. He may turn out to be a guy like Delanie Walker who has excelled with the Titans since leaving the 49ers. Moreover, by waiving Monroe, the overall cost difference at the TE position would be minimal.

And why not Revis? The guy is still easily a top three CB in this league.

As for Bulaga, I say give him an offer he can't refuse and that the Packers won't match if given the opportunity to do so. Maybe they'd be overpaying for a RT, but in the Jaguars case they may have to. The Jaguars have only made the AFC C game twice, and back then Michael Huyughe was overpaying several players in order to get them to come out there. It's doing what it takes.

Heck, we should probably bring in a couple CBs. Charles Tillman is available as well.

Isn't Tillman retiring?

I would be thrilled if the Dave Caldwell signed Julius Thomas and/or Brian Bulaga.

I just don't happen to believe that either player will be available to sign in Free Agency.

If Bulaga became available I would make him the higher priority.

Remember guys there will be other teams that will have some interest in these players if they become available.

I think Charles Clay is more realistic

There is a lot of talk lately saying the Dolphins really want to re-sign Charles Clay.

He is more of an H-Back, but he also could be a real chain mover for Blake Bortles.

I tend to favor his signing over the other two more highly favored field stretching TEs.

We need to use the TE to play small ball as an outlet for Blake to keep the chains moving.

Quote:It has been suggested that the Jags will enter the 2015 season with more than 60 Million in Cap Space

2015 may also be a big year for a few quality Free Agents to hit the market.

Which Free Agents do you want the Jags to sign?

Here is my list and why.

1. Julius Thomas - TE - Broncos - Can't block a lick but becomes the big receiving target down the center of the field. - 10 Mil/Season

2. Randal Cobb - WR - Packers - Veteran slot WR that can provide Bortles with reliable target - 8 Mil/Season

3. DeMarco Murray - RB - Cowboys - Veteran RB and can kickstart the ground game - 4 Mil/Season

4. Joe Barksdale - ORT - Rams - Veteran ORT and can solidify the OL - 7 Mil/Season

5. Jason Pierre Paul - DE - Giants - Veteran Leo DE to mix with Chris Clemons - 10 Mil/Season

6. Jason Worilds - OLB - Steelers - Veteran OLB to rush the passer on the SLB - 6 Mil/Season

7. Rahim Moore - FS - Broncos - Veteran FS - Centerfielder - 6 Mil/Season

51 Mil in Cap Space

Thomas, Cobb, Murray and Barksdale transform the Offensive side

JPP, Worilds and Moore the defensive side
Can I get this post and go hide it. We could come back and see if they will take 25 million

You can tell I like this.

Assuming we don't get Julius Thomas or Jordan Cameron, I would like to get Niles Paul for a sleeper TE pickup. He has impressed the past two years when Jordan Reed was hurt so much. I think he is more natural and dynamic in the passing game than Clay.

So what's the situation with Fitzgerald? Caldwell did say we need more xp on offense, perhaps that's too much xp. Then again, we have so much caproom which will be even moreso with Lewis released, Poz restructured, and cap increase

Fitzgerald to groom the young WRs. Caldwell said he wishes to have more leadership. Can't get any better than Larry. He also has some size which we are lacking at WR.

I like Iupati at OG. Move Linder to OC. Beadles competes with the other rookie.

JPP, Worilds, Orakpo, any of them would be a welcome addition to D plus adding Leonard Williams in draft would be stacking the DL.

Really need to get a SS and a CB. Taushan Gibson would be nice.

I don't think we go after a OT in free agency because the Jags will see La'el Collins and work with him in the SR bowl. He is positioned to fall to our 2nd round pick.

Overall if we spend some money we can make some nice upgrades.

A couple of guys who will most likely hit the market:

Quote:Jake Long | STL

(January 18, 2015 12:03 PM EST)

ESPN Rams reporter Nick Wagoner expects the team to release LT Jake Long or ask him to take a pay cut.

Long is almost certainly going to be cut. The Rams have already said Greg Robinson will be the left tackle in 2015. Long has never played any other position in the NFL. He also has one of the lengthiest injury histories in the league. St. Louis is already projected to be over the salary cap. It can clear $8 million by releasing Long. C Scott Wells should also be an easy cut for GM Les Snead.

Brian Orakpo | WAS

(January 18, 2015 11:27 AM EST)

ESPN Redskins reporter John Keim doesn't expect the team to put forth much of an effort to re-sign impending free agent OLB Brian Orakpo.

Team brass was reportedly split on bringing Orakpo back last offseason. The Redskins used the franchise tag on him, and Orakpo registered a half-sack before landing on I.R. with a torn pectoral after Week 7. It was the third time he's torn his pec in his career. Orakpo is Evan Silva's No. 5 free agent edge rusher available behind Justin Houston, Jerry Hughes, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Greg Hardy.

On Jake Long, can you go get the fork, he's done.

On Brian Orakpo - definitely an option at the Leo DE position.

Three pec tears means he probably weights trains a wee too much.

I am kind of thinking of Mark Ingram of the Saints as a Free Agent RB.

964 yards in 226 carries averaging 4.3 yds per carry, 5 carries over 20 yards, with 9 TDs and 29 receptions.

If the Jags can rotated DRob, Gerhart and Ingram, they might be able to generate a ground game.

Ingram is 5'9" 215 Lbs and is only 25 yrs old, - turns 26 in Dec 2015.

Plenty of time for the kid to turn his career around.

Should be a reasonable contract.

Can we bring in Josh Freeman to compete with Henne for the backup job.

Would be an intriguing pick up. We would also be a better short yardage/goal line upgrade over TOBY

With the addition of Doug Marrone to the coaching staff, could his insights into the play of Jerry Hughes - DE - Buffalo lead to the Jags signing this player should the team be unable to sign JPP?

Jerry Hughes - is 6'2" 254 lbs and a former 1st Rd selection of the Colts.

He will be 27 years old next season.

He did nothing for the Colts, but has two consecutive 10 sacks seasons for the Bills in 2013 and 2014.

Now he wants to be paid and it is possible that he hits the market.

In many way, Jerry Hughes is like Shane Ray and would fit as the Jags Leo DE.

What do you think of signing Jerry Hughes to play the Leo position for the Jags?

With the recent hiring of Greg Olson formerly of the Raiders, might he recommend that the Jags sign in Free Agency

Stefen Wisniewski - Center -Raiders - 6'3" 315 Lbs - 4 Yr Starter - 26 Yrs old

Wisniewski is a former 2nd Rd pick for the Raiders and he is rated as the 47th best Free Agent on the market.

What do you think?
