If we traded down with Cleveland...

How do you know they wouldn't do this?  Have you seen the way the draft chart works?  It's not a perfect science, but if a team falls in love with a player...there has been worse things done in the draft.

I doubt Cleveland offers that trade.  It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.  But if they did, moving from 12 to 3 warrants more than a second round pick.  They'd more likely offer future picks if they wanted to move to 3.

2003, New Orleans traded the 16th and 17th picks to Arizona (at the same time) to move up to six.

If 16 and 17 get you to six, 12 and 19 to get you to 2 seems realistic.

If all Caldwell got for moving from 1.03 to 1.12, and gifting a franchise quarterback to the Browns, was a 3rd round pick, he would be fired before he even got to make that pick at 1.12.

I find it hard to believe they would drop a first and a third for Johnny Manziel one year, and then drop two first rounders on Mariota the very next year.  I can see if it were for Winston who's a completely different type of player, but Mariota?

Good job.

I knew the post to which you responded was wrong, but could not recall off hand when it happened.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

They are a complete mess. Hoyer is 50/50 right now and Manziel is in rehab and "in a dark place." They may be throwing out the Patriots ball boy soon. I think they very much want and need a QB.

A lot more than that, actually. I had other accounts before and after this one.

I know recent draft history. It is extremely unusual for a team with two first round picks to trade both of them to move up.

Brian Hoyer is a pending free agent and the Browns are not sure Johnny Manziel is the answer at quarterback. Randy Farmer has already stated the Browns are interested in trading up for Marcus Mariota.

Here is the problem: The Raiders and Redskins don't need a quarterback either, so the Browns could trade with them to jump over the Jets. Doing that would allow them to only trade #12 and a second or third round pick.

I could see the browns being not so smart and wanting to draft another QB and give up their first round picks.

I would like to see Vic and Landon be our picks if that was to happen. Man that would be amazing.

Why Landoin Collins? He is a younger Jonathan Cyprien.

Because I enjoy what I have seen from him and at this point in time I think he would be a good player for us. Thats just my opinion tho.

Don't see any way Cleveland would be willing to give up both of their first rounders

Ray Farmer has never publically said anything about trading up for Mariotta, and even if he did, it's worthless information. It doesn't benefit teams to reveal their draft plans so you have to assume any rumor coming out may be to hide their intentions. And also, just because the Browns only offer a 2nd round pick doesn't mean the Jags accept that offer. If they REALLY wanted Mariotta, that's not a great way of showing it.

Trae Waynes at corner if we trade just outside the top ten. He is a fantastic talent and would lock down the number 2 CB position right away.

I wouldn't be opposed to this. Waynes and McCray as your starters. Move Colvin to FS. Backfield complete.

When did Aaron Colvin ever play free safety? I am sure he would have last year if he was one in college.

2014 Guide: What Ourlads' NFL Scouting Services said about Aaron Colvin: Oklahoma, 5113 177 4.50. Three-year starter. Was the starting strong safety in 2011 and corralled 84 tackles. Long-armed corner is an effective blitzer off the edge. Disguises intentions well. Good recognition of run or pass. Knows his responsibilities man-to-man or zone. Good ball reactions. Closes quickly on the ball. Keeps position on the receiver and accepts the challenge when the ball is thrown his way. Mentally tough and physical in his play. Suffered an ACL injury to his right knee in the Senior Bowl practices and will be unable to work out prior to the draft. Has technique breakdowns at times. 2013 stats: 55 T, 1 INT. Medical exclusion at Combine, ACL. Fourth/fifth round. (A-31, H-9 1/4, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).
He'd fit at free safety well, but I've never seen the brass refer to him as anything other than a corner.

You know why? Because they want him to be a cornerback. Gus Bradley made that clear near the end of last season. Aaron Colvin is definitely not moving to free safety if you believe the coach's public comments.
