Yikes at the Harold love. Don't get any real reasons to like him at all. I would pray Owa or Preston Smith are available if pass rusher isn't the pick at 3.


If LEO is the pick then I am fine with an LB like Anthony, WR like Lockett or Dorsett...and even Ajayi, Abdullah, or Coleman would be ok.

Not sure where the Harold love keeps coming from. I wasn't impressed and haven't been able to grasp what people are seeing that makes him a high 2nd rounder.

I would like to hear why someone who has watched a lot of him likes him. I think for a lot of people it is simply mock drafts + visit to Jax + the dot com video interview. He definitely came across as a great guy and I liked the suit he wore for it, but otherwise...

If you want to help Bortles I think this is the best scenario. Two legit weapons who can score from anywhere on the field.


Keep in mind Caldwell was with Atlanta when they traded up for Julio so he knows first hand how much a true #1 WR can help a QB. Especially a WR coming from the Alabama pedigree.

I was reading an analysis of Edge Rushers on ProFootball Rumors and when it came to a discussion of Eli Harold the biggest complaint was that he whiffed at making the tackle in the backfield. He got to the QB or RB but missed the tackle.

 

The biggest complaint regarding Vic Beasley is that when a quality OT got their hands on him, game over, Beasley was effectively neutralized.

 

In the NFL, most OLT are quality players and thus my concern with Vic Beasley is that he feasted on slow college ORT that would never be NFL starters and that is how he got most of his sacks.

Cameron Erving really took off as a prospect at FSU once he moved inside to the Center position. As an OLT, he really was not distinguishing himself, so suggesting that Vic Beasley beat him is not really saying that Beasley defeated an NFL quality OLT.

Interesting, that when this question was asked in a poll back in January the top choices were Maxx Williams, Devin Funchess, Denzel Perryman, Eric Kendricks, Gerod Holliman, Paul Dawson, Lorenzo Mauldin and Todd Gurley. Only Todd Gurley would be on the list now I'd suggest (or maybe one of the linebackers)


Some of that will be down to the signings we made in free agency, of course, especially Julius Thomas.

I would love to see Phillip Dorsett.  I don't know how a safety, most nickels, or LB could cover him coming out of the slot.   

 

A smallish corner would cover him out of the slot. I'd rather have Devin Smith, who's also super fast but has a little more size to play outside or inside.

I'm good with Ajayi too but I'm all over this. When our offense has been at the bottom for so long then has to be addressed.

Fowler seems to have too much risk for my tastes. I could see him being a 6 sack kind of guy and defending the run well. See Derrick Morgan, Titans. Or he could explode. That's why I don't envy Caldwell's job. I'd be picking the safest player with the highest perceived floor in the first round every time and then BAP players who fell below their expected range the rest of the draft.

Cam Erving is at least a decent LT in the NFL. Not an elite prospect, but a pretty good one.

I'm not a fan of Preston Smith. Owa has me worried about his past injuries, but I'd take him or Danielle Hunter. Hunter didn't have the sack numbers, but he did offer a lot of pressure.


This of course is if we don't select a pass rusher in the first round.

You're clueless. He was considered a top 2 round LT even last year when he only played LT.
