Global Warming, er Climate Change is a National Security Threat

Quote:On the surface, I would agree.  Weather is not climate.  Now if you stack up the weather points over time and we see a trend towards a rising of the average temperature over say, a year when compared to previous years
, that would be cause for concern...
The problem with that might be anomalies such as El Nino and La Nina which happen on regular intervals of 2-7 years...Using data during the El Nino/La Nina cycles, could provide a false postive

Yet that's not the case.

It's 93 in Jacksonville today with a heat index over 100.  Should we run around in a panic over this?  I'm betting it's going to be a trend that lasts at least another few months here too, so clearly the science says this is global warming because it's hot and humid during the summer in Florida.  That's never happened before!

We are so arrogant to believe that we have all of this control over the climate of this planet.  All it takes is one good volcanic eruption to pretty much erase all the do good stuff being done in the name of saving the planet.  The planet isn't dying because of human beings.  Climate change happens as a natural order of things.  All things are cyclical, and because some feel gooder drives around in their hybrid thinking they're saving the planet, that doesn't make it so.

At the end of the day, the global warming alarmists are all fighting for the almighty dollar.  Whether it's researchers who are looking for the next grant, or hypocrites like Al Gore who are only too happy to sell carbon credits to the rich and powerful of the world so they can feel better about their massive carbon footprints, it's all about the money.  Can we be better stewards of the planet and its resources?  Absolutely.  But, to think that we have the capability of destroying this planet is borderline comical.  This orb was here before humans inhabited the face of the earth, and it will be here long after we're gone and the next superior being takes over.

I'm not a climate change denier.  Climate changes on a minute by minute basis.  I simply don't subscribe to the notion that by using compact fluorescent light bulbs and driving an electric car are going to make one bit of a difference.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I had to fix some machinery out in the middle of the field, I must've lost 3lbs haha.

But I'll take our 107 over your 96 any day! Every time I've been back East in the heat it takes a few days to feel like I'm not inhaling misty air.

The thought of that simply blows my mind.  I personally come from out west (born and raised in Albuquerque, NM) and have been in/visited every state in the country with the exception of Alaska (which I hope to do one day).  I've also had the opportunity to visit several other countries around the globe.  How far north have you ever traveled?

Haha it's true. Hopefully with this new job an actually getting paid vacations starting next year we can do some traveling. I want to see Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, the Dakotas and Oregon but that might have to wait until retirement.

I do plan on making a trip to Utah in the next 2-3 years I dunno something about the west just makes me curious. Not the southwest I've had enough heat to last a life time

I haven't traveled much either.  Sad to say that I've never even left the United States.  My wife however is very well traveled.  I did go to Tennessee once.  By accident.  Not sure if that counts.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Haha don't worry about it ED. It's so hard to travel with the amount of small children you have - I have one much older child and didn't really take many opportunities to travel until I was in my late 20's.

Yeah it's hard to travel when you have kids.  Not to mention expensive.  We can't really afford to travel.  Never got the chance when I was a kid.

Who cares what a guy in a dress sitting on a gold throne says? Maybe when his church sells off all its property to give to the poor then he'll have some moral authority to speak on the matter.

Says a guy who calls himself a god.

So you don't care what a guy who sits on a gold throne says? You must worship what the guy with the golden microphone says...
