Well that's why I brought up the point of the pundits and Kaep and RGIII possibly changing the way they play since they obviously have more arm/accuracy talent than Michael Vick. There's just more of a risk there. Look at Tebow, Vince Young, Akili Smith, Vick, all those other guys that were drafted and busted. Yes, there are pocket busts too, but I just feel like there may be less of a risk.

Look at guys like Colt Brennan and Graham Harrell; they are pocket passers through and through and they busted. In fact, I'll bet that more pocket passers have busted simply due to the number drafted is so much higher. After all, there are only so many "good" Quarterbacks in the League. Everybody wants one, but they sure are hard to come by.

Good point. Although Cam Newton went #1 overall, he is an outlier when it comes to "mobile, athletic" Quarterbacks.

True, but he also is not quite living up to the lofty status of that #1 pick. It's yet to be seen, but no one would consider him a top level QB at this point in year three.

Now this is something that I was thinking last night too. But then again I thought this is his first real tough game. No one wants to be objective though.

Strong arm and athletic, he has all the measurables. But he only has experiences in his spread-read option offense, and he struggled with his accuracy when he has to improvise. He also hasnt taken any snap from under center. He's not NFL ready.


No QB should be drafted to this team just to sit and learn. That boat has sailed long ago.

Mariota could be a star in the NFL, but I'm not as high on him as I once was.  He's still a very raw passer who will need to sit and learn if he comes out this year.  The fumbling issue over the last few games has also concerned me.

 

But yes, he definitely has a high ceiling. I think it'd be in his best interest to stay in school for one more year though, even though he has no chance at being the #1 pick in 2015.  That shouldn't influence his decision.  He needs to stay in school and get better.

If we don't get the number one pick -- which we will -- but hypothetically if we don't, and Teddy is taken first overall?  I honestly don't know what to do.  Seriously.  There's no other QB that I want with that type of value.  Maybe take a chance on Tajh Boyd in the second round, but I think he goes somewhere mid-first.

 

In that case, I think you have to go with Clowney or Barr.  That is if you cannot trade down several spots, and maybe take a guy like Tim Jernigan or CJ Mosely while also garnering a second and third rounder, or a future first.

 

But I'm not worried at all.  We suck pretty hard.  We'll get top pick.  Teddy is ours.
