Gold Cup

Quote:USA-Cuba July 18 in the quarters.

Oh, and keep it classy Mexico. Unbelievable that their fans would throw trash and stuff like that. I would say because it was because of the game, but then I checked my watch, it's Wednesday.

Huh? How in the heck did Cuba manage to get a 3rd place group finish and move on?They had 6 players not make it over because they didn't get visas. They had another player defect.

Admittedly, I only saw them play vs Mexico. But, it was brutal. Mexico absolutely destroyed them.

The US better take this one easy.

Two third place teams advance, based on points. Being only three groups with four per it has to be done. Cuba had one win and got in as the last team.

Really? Cuba actually won a match? That's surprising. They looked completely out matched the only game I saw.

Hopefully the U.S. has no trouble moving past them.

Yea, CONCACAF has never been accused of being extremely deep.

I agree. Although, lately the top 4-5 nations have been improving in comparison to other parts of the world.

Costa Rica is really good, and played extremely well last year in WC.

Mexico also looked very good last summer. I think they won the Gold vs Brazil at the Olympics IIRC.

In the World Cup, they played great. I thought they would get a little further than the round of 16, but I think they played a very tight match against Netherlands and got beat by some kind of controversy or controversial call.

US seems to be getting much better against top competition. Klinsman is really doing a great job trying to build the US stronger. Let's hope it starts to translate on the biggest stage.

I don't know much about the rest of CONCACAF. It seems like Haiti, Honduras, and Panama could be pretty good. Idk yet, I'd have to see alot more of them.

Anyway,, I hope the US can make it through this Gold Cup and get to face Mexico. I'd be all jacked up for that matchup!

Just looked at the Quarterfinals matchups. Mexico is slated to play Costa Rica. That should be a really good match.

I feel Cuba should be an "easy" win.

Yea, both of those teams are solid.  I'm looking for to that one.

Cuba has had 4 players defect during the tournament so far. Anyone know what happens when this occurs? Do the players just show up at a courthouse and say they want to stay?

I love the random smattering of teams you picked for your signature.

I thought the US was as offensive as you could get in the second half, just couldn't put it in the goal the second time.

The first half was horrible.

Ha well when you live in Indiana you only have Colts or Pacers and lord knows Colts fans are fickle. But I will give you an explanation of my Jags and Blue Jays picks since the Pacers are my only homer team.

about 1993-1995 I was just beginning to get old enough to really follow sports. So for the Blue Jays I started following them because they won the World Series and I have followed them ever since even though it has been painful most the time haha.

Now for the Jaguars around that time they were bidding to become an expansion team and were ultimately rewarding with a team so I jumped on it.

As far as far as Sporting KC goes I have recently been getting more into soccer and Dom Dwyer and Matt Besler are two of my top 5 favorite soccer players.

So you may ask why I don't pick a Chicago team or some noise and the reason for that is I HATE Chicago teams/fans. Chicago fans think they are the most privileged people in the world and deserve every championship.
