Quote:Tampa claiming all of those players would worry me if I was a Bucs fan. That's 10% of your roster signed a week before the start of the season! It reminds me of when the Lions claimed around 6 players in 2009, with a new regime ( Martin Mayhew/ Jim Schwartz ) in place following the 0-16 season. In looking at the Bucs roster prior to the FA period, it reminded me of a somewhat better version of the Lions 2009 winter roster. We show less advertisements to registered users. I will have to look into that more. Here's a good write up on him. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2015/09/steelers-film-room-re-visiting-anthony-chickillo/

Quote: Quote:Interesting. I've personally never heard of him but that makes a 3rd, as the Browns cut 4th round pick WR Vince Mayle. That's highly unusual. Regarding the Browns, I'm not sure if they believe their WR corp has vastly improved or they once again made a mistake in WR evaluations.
Best of luck to the both of them.

I'm not 100% sure how waivers works, with the Bucs claiming so many players they'll be down the list now right? The Jags should be near the top for any players cut today?
Quote:Here's a good write up on him. Thank you. I'm guessing the Steelers are hoping they can get him on the PS but I'm betting he gets claimed. Quote:I'm not 100% sure how waivers works, with the Bucs claiming so many players they'll be down the list now right? The Jags should be near the top for any players cut today? Waiver priority is the same as the draft slots until week 3 of the regular season.

I saw Chickillo in the EW shrine game and he looked like a man against boys, absolutely beasted it. I'm surprised he got cut already.

Giants claim Louis Nix.

Tweet from Mike Kaye (@mike_e_kaye) - Well, the Jaguars didn't claim any players on waivers, sticking to the philosophy that the team is "built." There wasn't much to choose from

But it's unusual that three 4th Round Picks were cut. In the case of the Seahawks, they often take players much higher than most teams rate them. Sometimes, the Seahawks strike paydirt. But certainly not always, as in the case of Terry Poole.

Dave Birkett @davebirkett 13m13 minutes ago I'm in and out today, enjoying some family time, but as others have said, #Lions made no waiver claims & had no one claimed This speaks volumes of how disappointing Larry Webster's summer was. I thought there was a good chance that Webster would be claimed based on potential. I also thought S Isaiah Johnson, who was an UDRFA out of Georgia Tech had around a 50-50 chance of being claimed. Joseph Fauria's stock went way down as well. It's not surprising that Fauria went through waivers unclaimed. The same with Kellen Moore, who has great intangibles but limited upside.
Stephen Morris is trending on Twitter. I'm glad the Jags gave him the 4th game to show what he has and the Eagles picked him up. I wish him nothing but the best going forward.

Quote:Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1m Thanks, Scarecrow. This is the first I've seen the news. The Lions didn't have a viable CB P.S. candidate that was amongst the team's cuts. Considering Stanley Jean-Baptiste's size, which is something Defensive Coordinator Teryl Austin values greatly with the outside CB's, it makes sense to give him a shot on the P.S. There's nothing to lose. Interestingly, the Lions had another CB from Nebraska, UDRFA CB Mohammed Seisay, on the P.S. and then the 53 man roster last season. Before this year's training camp, the Lions traded Seisay to the Seahawks for a 6th Round pick. Seisay suffered a season ending injury in the Seahawks final pre-season game and was placed on I.R. SJB and Seisay have the size that teams like the Lions, Jaguars, Seahawks, and Falcons, among others, seek. |
