Charles Johnson vs Luke Joeckel

Quote:If you listened closely, you would have heard Margus Hunt. WOW

Didn't even have the sound on. Good, he "beasted" a scrub from Southern Methodist who managed a whole 1.5 sacks in 2 years.

Impressive.

Johnson is a whole other animal. I'm sure in your eyes he's mediocre, or avarage...like everyone else.

I'm worried about anyone against Joeckel. I would probably even take the wind against him... no I'm jk. Johnson/Ealy will be a good test for him

Doug Marrone heavily influenced this signing. Parnell earned his 32 million.

There it is.

Let the RB or TE help out Joeckel. I'm confident that Parnell will man handle him and make him eat turf.

Didn't Ryan Davis run around and through Joeckel in camp? Just saying. I don't really have confidence in Joeckel versus anyone.

True. But he ran through everyone in camp during 1 on 1's.

Parnell was an absolute monster in preseason. I really hope he keeps it up. There was one play where he cracked the RE and then came back towards the guard and chipped the DT that allowed Gerhart to get the first down. Haven't seen that from a Jaguar tackle in a long time..

Our biggest fears are Johnson and Kuechly. We kind of feel like we can take out your WRs easily enough that we'll be able to limit Olsen and Cam's running with scheme, and we don't really fear your RBs all that much even though our run D is a work in progress. Offensively we need to account for these two. Kuechly just cuz he's the best in the game, and Johnson because our LT is such a questionmark right now.

Parnell at RT has played so well this preseason that we think he'll handle anybody they throw at him. He was the backup LT in Dallas who took over as their starting RT due to injury. He played well enough, but the Cowboys had too many other concerns to lock up financially and let him walk. Prior to the preseason we wondered if he was really going to work out, but he was beasting so hard this preseason that we feel Caldwell nailed it. Johnson will be a great test to see if we're right about that. Johnson vs our LT, however, might very well be a mismatch in the Panthers favor, and we all realize it and don't want to really talk about it too much. Needless to say they'll probably glue a TE to Joekel whenever CJ is on his side.

In the handful of Panthers games that I saw in the last season or two,   an underrated player who jumped out is DE Mario Addison.   He's undersized as a DE but was a major factor as a speed rusher off the edge.   Addison seems like a vastly different type of DE than Charles Johnson,   who is much more of a 3 down type of DE.

They should just line up Philly Brown and Ted Ginn at defensive end. Apparently they are so fast they can just blow by the defense on every play, so why not line them up on our tackles and break the NFL sack record?

Panthers 160 Jags 3.

Me thinks Marcedes Lewis/Yeldon/Gerhart will need to throw a few chips to help the kid out. Otherwise he could be living in the backfield come Sunday.

PFF had ranked Julis Thomas as only good, not great like they did Cann or elite (they didnt rank any Jaguars Elite).  They ranked M. Lewis as average, and Clay Harbor as below.  They said not enough info for Nick Jacobs.

Many would argue that Olson is a far better TE than M. Lewis, but can Lewis prove his worth in this game?

Gus Bradley said in the presser that Olson was targeted nine times in the last game he had played, and with the injuries to the Panthers WR the Jaguars should expect Olson to be utlized more in this game.  The Jaguars HC then suggested that the team has planned out ways to tackle Cam, and the other running backs maybe suggesting that he is more concerned with the run game than that of Olson's threat.

Its kind of funny in a lot of ways the two teams are evenly matched in that they both have a tough athletic QB that can move, great TE threat, even greater LB threat & is primarily known for running the ball.

This will be a good test of how the two teams will fare this season.

Addison is a good pass rusher but a liability vs the run. Horton, the other back up DE is the opposite. Johnson and Ealy are both 3 down DE's.

Kyle Love doesn't play DE. I assume that was a poor attempt at humor.
