NFL Injuries thread

Quote:One thing about the injuries is that those who want to end preseason games use that as an argument for not having them.

That's not a logical argument, as many of these injuries (including the most severe season ending ones) happened in practice.

I understand the arguments for not having preseason games and agree with a lot of the reasons for not having them.

But I can't agree with the injury excuse.

One could argue the injuries (and the perceived or real increase in them - not sure as I haven't seen numbers) are more likely due to the new CBA and practice rules. Lighter/fewer workouts, etc.

Hmmmm, good point.

Jags, in that time, had the most injuries with 62.

We have the most because of that one year where Gene IR'd the whole team. Remember, we ran out of IR spots haha.

Our numbers are inflated due to the fact that our former GM used IR as a way to cycle through the midseason scrap heap of players in order to hopefully fix the holes in the roster that he failed to adequately address in the offseason. Those numbers are not really indicative of our actual injury situation, just indicative of the poor offseason planning of our former GM.

Once Caldwell took over in 2013, the IR numbers go back to normal.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm alluding to.

@RapSheet: Sources: #Saints believe QB Drew Brees has a shoulder injury that will likely cause him to miss games, potentially several games.

@Edwerderespn: Source: #Drew Brees experienced pain, weakness in passing shoulder from TB hit. Had MRI. Response to treatment to determine playing status.

If Brees is out for an extended period of time, the Saints will challenge for the first pick of the draft

Quote:Well aside from the Jaguars own injuries the injuries seem to be happening a lot to our opponents best players.

What are you talking about? I guess you don't know who Allen Robinson and Sen'Derrick Marks are. And what about Dante Fowler, the #3 overall pick and best defensive college player last season?

Drew Brees won't be out nearly as long as Tony Romo. At least he can play with his injury.

Just say the entire NFC is injured and leave it at that lol

Quote:Jordy Nelson likely has a torn ACL. Ouch.

He was put on IR in preseason. Aaron Rodgers lamented about players getting hurt in meaningless games after that.

Forget that year. This is the David Caldwell era. How many players has he put on IR without the boomerang?
