Is Mike Glennon already a better QB than RGIII?

#21

I still think he is "just a guy". Obviously better than anything we have but I don't that I see him being anything more than a Garrard type. A playoff contender if everything else is in place and works well.

He was one of my favorite QBs in the draft nice to see that he just may be a success (too early to tell either way) and hopefully he'll play the Bucs out of contention for the #1 pick

Predraft last year, I had Glennon with a high 2nd round grade. Jags were content w Gabbert and with bypassing Geno, Glennon and EVERY QB in the draft. That's only acceptable as long as we get Bridgewater. Otherwise heaven help us.

I think there are other QB's aside from Bridgewater that are superior prospects to both Geno Smith and Mike Glennon. I still think the team gets the first pick and Bridgewater, but it's not the end of the world if they don't.

Glennon is serviceable. I don't think he's bad but he isn't elite. He won't blow you away in any facet of the game. But he will do a decent job managing it.

Quote:I honestly can't believe how good he looks.
Me either, he looks like a very good game manager already, as a rookie. This guy looks like the cream of the crop last year already. Its impressive, the Bucs will not be at the bottom with us for very much longer this season.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

As difficult it was seeing the Lions give away this game with 5 turnovers,   I give Mike Glennon plenty of credit for the Bucs win yesterday.   While Glennon did take a sack that he could have avoided and it probably ended up costing the Bucs a FG,   otherwise I thought he was a very good game manager in this game.

The key above all is Glennon didn't turn the ball over.   When you are the starting QB and you contribute to your team having a + 5 takeaway/ turnover ratio,   at least 99 % of the time,  you are going to be on the winning end of the game.   When the dust settles on a football game,  it's not TD's or passing yards that matters.   It's whether your team won the game.    To Glennon's credit,  he's now led his team to 3 straight wins after an OT loss on the road to league leading Seattle.  Considering the injuries the Bucs have dealt with,   Glennon is making a strong case to being considered a long term solution.

Quote:Glennon’s 34-of-44 for 478 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions over the last two weeks and he’s thrown 12 touchdowns and two interceptions over the last seven games, moving him to the front of the line of this year’s rookie quarterbacks.

I'm a hater. Those are some eye popping numbers.

Glennon has potential, he needs a few more pieces around him and a coaching change. He really does remind me of a David Garrard in terms of his potential. I think he has the potential to be a better QB quicker than Garrard, he's getting the chance sooner and quicker in his development.

He's done better than I thought he would. I was never really that impressed with him in college and I didn't think he looked that good in the preseason.

Glennon's not even an Andy Dalton level QB...

He's got weapons down there and he's using them. Good for him. I concur with SDR's comments above.

While David Garrard had more mobility than Mike Glennon has,   Glennon's accuracy is something that has jumped out.

A major question surrounding Glennon is what will happen if the Bucs replace the current coaching staff.   Glennon is performing well in the Bucs system,  despite the injuries the Offense and overall team have dealt with.    It remains to be seen if Glennon will be a good fit if he's in another system next year.     He might be the type of QB who isn't right for many teams but could be a solution for some teams.

after watching him in preseason i actually thought he shouldve won the job, he played way better than freeman.  not surprised hes having success, hes put in a position to succeed, good running game (even though they they lost their top 2) and a very good defense. i hope we had both when we bring our qb.

I hear some people saying Schiano could be back next year now that he has the team rolling with Glennon at the helm.

After the Bucs lost at home to the Panthers by a wide margin on a Thursday Night last month,  I had serious doubts Greg Schiano would last as HC for another game.  What might have saved Schiano from getting fired was the Bucs next opponent was the Seahawks on the road.   A game an Interim HC couldn't realistically expect to win.

As it turned out,  the Bucs unexpectedly built a huge lead over the Seahawks before losing to the in OT.  That game bought Schiano another opportunity.   Since then,  the Bucs haven't lost.

It's now fair to say that Schiano could be retained in 2014.  The Bucs are winning and Mike Glennon is showing plenty of promise in the context of what Schiano is trying to build.   If the Bucs win at least 2 more games and continue to improve with Glennon at the helm,  Schiano has a good chance of being retained.   Many Bucs fans will be disturbed but the team is definitely making significant progress.

One thing the Bucs will need to do in order to continue to win with regularity is cut down their penalties.   It's something that has plagued them often this season.

Glennon will be better than Andy Dalton and it's because he (Glennon) has a rocket for an arm, Andy Dalton has the weakest arm of any starting QB in football, he's also incredibly inconsistent with his decision making. I'd take Glennon over Andy Dalton any day of the week.

I cooled on Glennon leading up to the draft and kinda wrote him off but i will say the numbers arent lying the kid is playing good football. Hopefully this jumps the Bucs out of the Teddy running .

Guys good, but don't drink the kool-aid just yet. Complete rocket launcher for an arm, but he still needs time to learn the game at a pro level. Once he's had a full season or two of consistency under his belt, then I'll say how good he is. Definitely has been impressive though
