I'll save you some time. David Garrard LITERALLY NEVER WAS ASKED TO THROW THE BALL 50 TIMES. The most he ever had to throw was 45 times and his offense put up a whopping 12 points.

I've watched Teddy and Blake 3 years in college. Teddy only checks down well. He's a manager. I'm calling it now that Teddy like RG3 is a future backup. Minnesota is DEAD LAST in passing yards and DEAD LAST in passing TDs in the NFL. The Vikings have a solid defense, a solid kicker, and solid coaching Norv Turner, etc around Teddy.


The best thing the Jags could ever do is fire Gus and get Blake a real head coach.

I hope you're smart enough to realize what's happening. Andy Reid knows Teddy can't throw down the field and he's putting 9 in the box to stop AP. Teddy is getting exposed this year.

I can tell you that Bridgewater behind this line and SLOWBY GERHORSE would not even make it to the second half as a starter...

 

And I can also say that Bortles behind the Vikings O-line and Adrian Peterson would look a lot better than he does here... You see, here, Bortles is running for his life for 2 plays every drive, because our offensive line is inept. Compound that with a nonexistent running game and you know what happens. 

 

Bortles kept plays alive and made things happen, he also made some mistakes too - which is to be expected when you accumulate the situation around him.

The defense is our Achilles heel.  Bortles deserves some criticism, but we should be supporting our franchise QB who is about to break most single season passing records for Jaguar QB in his 2nd year...  He is one of the few things that makes the games entertaining and gives us some hope that we can win.  He is about 30 total yards away from breaking franchise passing record based on average yards per game and on pace to break franchise TD record by 11.  His INT per game average, I believe, will come down (and need to) with continuity.  His passer rating this year is 14 points higher (at this moment) and has thrown more TD's in 6 games by two than he did in 14 games last year.  He is averaging 64 yards more per game than last year as well.  Bortles is improving in every area right now except for INT rate and completion percentage.  Those of course are things he needs to get better at.

Carr has lost 2 fumbles, something a Marriottas fan would know quite a bit about and would like to ignore.

 

However, 2 fumbles lost are turn overs.  

 


Carr has 5 total turn overs.  BB5 has 7 total turn overs.  Just want to point that out...

 

BB5 also has 149 running the ball.  Carr has a whopping 29 yards.

 

BB5 has more yardage and more TDs...

 

Carr has a higher percentage, but is asked to throw the ball almost 10 times less per game than BB5.  

 

They both look OK.  I think BB5 clearly has a higher ceiling.  Carr is probably at his limit.  And to be honest, I think BB5, with his yardage and what he's asked to do, is having a better season.

 

Also, let's not act as though the raiders are killing it this year.  They currently only have 1 more win than we do...

I think you can certainly make a case for Derek Carr.  He is throwing for 40 less yards per game, 5 less total TD's, but 4 less INT's, QB rating is 10 points higher and accuracy is 6.6% higher.  Bortles has been sacked 17 times to Carrs 7 times.  Bortles has also been able to avoid a lot more sacks than most QB's could, but we will just stick to the numbers.  Carr has played one less game and that could of course help or hurt his stats.  Anyways, up to this point you could easily make arguments for either one.  You said he is light years ahead and then talk about objectivity?  I mean, I'm all for objective and as I said, you can make a case for Carr depending on your argument, but lights years ahead would imply there is no case which is, well, not the case.

Good point on fumbles.  I did not take that into consideration.  Do they include that in QB Rating?  If not, they should.  Also, rushing yards are another factor that I did not include.

Yes, but Bortles has made some inexcusable decisions period.  No defending them.  JT pass before 2nd half as I mentioned is one.  He can't make those type of throws.  Not all, but there is certainly a difference between trying to make a play where we have a chance and one where there is absolutely no hope for the targeted receiver to make a play on the ball.

Yeah, after looking at Carr's stats, I can't definitively say that BB5 is way better than Carr.  Some stats fall BB5's way, and Carr has some stats that he's got on BB5.  

 

Without watching the games as closely as I do the tacks and the jags (I've been DVRing the tacks and watching the offensive plays), I can't say whether Carr passes the eye test the way BB5 does.  But if thier stats are so close, one cannot say one is "light years ahead" of the other...

Why don't we just get Tebow. Blake reminds me of Garrard and Henne no matter what he still has not taking charge of this team. You are on the field. You make the call that gets us the best chance to win..No matter who the QB is they just can't win for..etc.  I just don't know.
