Freeman Benched For Glennon
|
Throwing out stats for Freeman to support him is the same as what people used to do here for Garrard. The guy is not a franchise QB and Tampa is cutting their losses. Glennon will get a year or so to prove he is or is not. I tend to think he won't be but time will tell.

Shack Del Rio & I don't always agree often....but when we do its about Freeman/ Glennon. ....stay thirsty my friends
If anything, the Bucs are setting themselves up nicely to get Jameis Winston with the first pick in 2015.

@APMarkLong: No surprise: Jaguars have zero interest in trading for Bucs QB Josh Freeman

Quote:why wouldn't they be just as easily setting themselves up for Bridgewater in 2014 with this same move? I meant that tongue-in-cheek. But it depends if Mark Dominik keeps his job. He must like Glennon if he drafted him that early.
Quote:@APMarkLong: No surprise: Jaguars have zero interest in trading for Bucs QB Josh Freeman THANK GOD!!!! At least we know Caldwell isn't [BLEEP].

I think they should. But Schiano has three years left on his contract.

Quote:I think they should but the Glazer's have been notoriously cheap. And Schiano has three years left on his contract. They gave him a 5 year deal?!?!? Thats too long in todays NFL. Too much contract to eat if/ when things go belly up early. Jags made that mistake with JDR's extension which should have been for 3 years-max. Even Belichick only gets extensions at 3 years at a time, IIRC. Quote:They gave him a 5 year deal?!?!? Once again, you spout off about that which you know nothing. Belichick signed a 6 year extension in 2007 that was set to expire at the end of this season. According to reports, he'll be coaching for New England for several years to come (details haven't been released about the term or the $). Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I recalled him only getting 3 years of extension, starting in 2010. Oh well. I did end the statement with "IIRC" which isn't a declaration of fact, there sport. Most head coaches anymore don't get that long of extension. Look at the NY GIants & Coughlin - and he's won 2 SB... http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/...-extension ...and Mike Tomlin, another successful superbowl winning coach... http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/819572...tract-2016  We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:No trade for Freeman? What if he's released? again....WHY????? Do you really want to risk losing the opportunity to draft Teddy Bridgewater just so you can maybe get an extra 2-3 wins in a LOSING season??? What the hell is wrong with some of you????? Freeman is never going to be a guy that can lead a team to a SB win so why waste your time with another just average to maybe slightly above average QB with bad intangibles??? Just suck it up for the rest of this year and hopefully reap the rewards of a true franchise QB in Bridgewater for the next decade.
I'll pass, unless we can do a straight swap of Henne for Freeman.
Fundamentals are the crutch of the talentless

As for as this season though, even if the Jaguars ended up with Freeman, I have serious doubt that Freeman can be the difference in the Jaguars winning 2 or 3 more games than w/o him. Freeman would have to learn the Jaguars Offensive System and terminology. Not to mention get his timing down with his supporting cast. Considering where the Jaguars are at with their overall roster, even the return of Justin Blackmon and Marcedes Lewis might not be enough for the team to win with a talented QB like Freeman who would have a long learning process ahead of him. A solid case can be made that the Jaguars would have a better chance of winning some games with one or more of their current QB's than with a QB that's currently not part of the organization, with question marks surrounding him.
They won't even go with Stanzi. So taking it they using this year is progress.
