Chris Clemons calls the Jax Media Racist

#61

Players are going to get mad at media guys who call them out. But in this case, calling the defence out for being crap is something a journalist covering this team should do (unless they're Johnny O and on the Jags payroll) - because it's the truth. Nothing against Clemons personally, but he never struck me as a media friendly player. Personally, I don't care about that so much, but I can see how Ryan's at times blunt honesty, and Clemons' not being media friendly lead to a build up and now a blow up.

Quote:I knew Blackmon was toast like 2.5 years ago, when he got popped during the bye week. But Ryan just kept throwing more and more dirt onto his grave, whever as most of us just backed off.

Ryan is a child in that he goes after the low hanging fruit, but has no balls to talk tough and take a real stance on something really controversial. He's a shill... I'm not a fan of that type of journalist.

I don't mind people that have hot takes and are critical. I just think that one should punch up and not kick someone who's down. Ryan always seems like the type of person to be too scared to take on something difficult, but all to willing to attack someone who's already wounded, so to speak.

Well if people were so uptight about him claiming Blackmon would never play again, could you imagine they're disdain if he actually was more critical. So I can see how it's easy to do the obvious with this team. But let's be honest jaguars fans are the most sensitive in the nfl no doubt.

LOL, I get your point.  There are certain players or personalities that become acceptable to attack.  I think, for the most part, Blackmon became an easy target.  Based on what happened in the offseason and his performance throughout the year, I think Ryan though Clemons was also an easy target.

I think he picked the wrong day to take a swipe at someone, after how badly we got spanked today...

I don't have a Twitter so I only see Ryan O pop up here when someone posts a tweet of his, so I probably haven't read as much from him as you have.

That said, in his defense (if he deserves one), do you think the Blackmon news was because so many Jags fans kept claiming he was coming back when Ryan O was saying he wasn't starting a few years ago and/or asking him for updates?

I don't think the guy's been focusing much time and/or effort on Ace Sanders, who also had his own addiction issues. I feel like his reporting on Blackmon was because everyone was so curious about what was happening and every time Ryan O reported something negative about Blackmon's chances coming back, a ton of people got all up in arms.

*yawn* Why would I care about a media hack and a player on the way out get into it?

Now tell me there's going to be some major stuff hitting the fan after what we've seen these last games of the season

and you have my attention.

I mean.....what I watched last weekend and today is a pro team after a whole season of playing together? Seriously?  Wallbash

You know, I didn't think of that, but you're right.  That's another angle to consider.  He may have gotten sick and tired of having to address the Blackmon issue and as ThunderCat mentioned, some fans can be hyper-sensitive.  I don't follow Ryan O, most of my memory of his Blackmon posts are also from fans coming into the Jungle and flaming him for attacking Justin.  My memory is not good enough to completely trust in regards to this, but I always got the impression that Ryan's attacks on JB14 were almost like random sniping and not derived from someone bringing up the topic to him.

But again, my memory and perception could be skewed on this matter.

Either way, the main point I'm trying to make is that I'm not really a big fan of either Clemons or the journalist.  LOL

Hey, I'm not at all defending Clem. But Ryan O is a hack.

Fair point. I'm not a fan of Clemons and don't really care enough about Ryan O. As long as Ryan O gives me accurate info, I don't care for his personal opinions or whatever. So, I'm right there with you on this one.

He definitely got into it with Clemons.

Yeah, but the comment saying "I'm not afraid he'll hit me because he can't hit anything" was a fraud, and that was the unprofessional comment. The "have fun getting cut" was in itself a little unprofessional, but not quite as bad.

Clemons tried to hit him.

He whiffed and pulled his hammy.

The end.

They should both leave town for all I care, childish and unprofessional by both of them.
