Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice

I thought the movie was okay, but it good have been better.  For example the fight scenes especially Wonder Woman's were kind of lame.

I thought that it was pretty good.  Most of the criticisms that I have involve stretching the storyline into another movie, which means I just wanted more.  After Man of Steel I was kind of like...  BLAH.  After watching this I can't wait to see the next installment!

Quote:I'll just have to disagree here.

I liked Eisenberg's Luthor.

They purposefully went for a younger Lex Luthor.

His emotions got out of control and he allowed his hatred to get the best of him.

It's just a different take on the character. And I kind of liked it. Plus Luthor could evolve from this. When he gets out, shaved head an all, he'll be a little older, wiser, and more calculated.

You're absolutely correct however it doesn't really make any sense. Luthor is arguably older than Bruce Wayne so the whole disparity there messed with my sensibilities. It should be noted I am NOT a Superman fan per se, but this incarnation of Luthor was entirely too out of control for my knowledge of the character but we're all allowed our own opinions.

Quote:You're the first person I've seen that didn't love Gadot's performance as WW in the movie but I understand where you're coming from. While she may be a warrior princess she's not like Batman where she can erase things from the internet or be a step ahead of everyone technologically. She also understands there's a time and a place to fight.

I really didn't see what was wrong with Wonder Woman at all.

Like I said, they introduced her too much in a Black Widow persona and that just bothered me. I don't think she'll have any issues actually playing Wonder Woman and she was AMAZING in the fight sequences. I'm probably nitpicking and I didn't hate her like I did Luthor but it still bothered me.

All things considered, Gal did a good job. I'm kinda biased though as I've actually met Mrs. Carter ~10yrs ago and she was an angel while I geeked out. She still looks amazing today...but I'm sure you know that already. Smile

The shadow of Reeve's Superman is the primary reason why my friends and I (all comic geeks) think that every attempt at rebooting Superman on-screen has either failed (Brandon Routh) or received mixed reviews at best (Cavill). I actually think Cavill does a great job in both films but it's not his fault that the common fan doesn't know that Reeve's Supes was Silver Age and Cavill's is a mix of the Bronze Age and the Modern Superman. Silver Age Superman was extremely idealistic as I recall...as time progressed the character became somewhat more pragmatic/realistic in view.

I can't reconcile folks raving about how great Luthor was in this flick, while he looks so inept and miscast in the commercials.

Guess I'll have to rent it.

Some didn't care for Hackman's version, but IMO his charisma made for a great portrayal, and how opposite he was from Reeve's Superman.  Spacey was a letdown, probably mostly because he seemed so perfect on the casting list.  That, and the movie as a whole was so bad.

It's definitely a non-traditional take. Usually lex is just out for a profit but in BvS, he's kind of this guy who, you get the impression, has always been the god of his own world. Then Superman comes along and completely illegitimizes that.

His dialogue is great. In particular one line stuck out to me. This is when he's arranging the titular battle. Possible spoilers maybe? Its just dialogue.

"I learned a long time ago that if God was all powerful, then he couldn't be all good...and if he was all good, then he could not be all powerful."

So he gets S to fight B so that either s dies and is shown fallible physically or B dies and S is shown fallible morally. Really fantastic stuff.

There would be zero hesitation to provide her with the best 10-12 seconds of performance I could muster.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

She's not the one I'm worried about knowing. As long as I can get a quick selfie to corroborate the story.
