Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice
|
Lets try top keep this spoiler free, shall we?
Anyways, who else feels like the Rotten Tomatoes rating for it is inaccurate? There's such a divide between the critics and the actual moviegoers that I almost feel like we were shown a different film than the critics. As a huge, HUGE DC fan, I thought it was alright. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great, but I was satisfied. Ben Affleck took Batman and ran with it in my opinion. That was probably the best Batman I've ever seen. [sorta spoilery, I guess?] His first appearance in the movie was almost horror-like with the music and the way it was shot. It almost made me jump

Why are batman and superman fighting???? Not enough bad guys to go around now?
What in the Wide Wide World of Sports is agoin' on here???
Quote:Why are batman and superman fighting???? Not enough bad guys to go around now? Oh, you know how boys are. You get two of 'em in a room, they don't know how to use their words, there's a cute girl around... Next thing you know, they're asking each other how much they can bench... one thing leads to another...
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
I plan to go see it next week with my husband. I really want to like it because I really loved Man of Steel, but I feel DC is trying to do a Marvel by way of throwing a bunch of characters at us. Plus, as a MoS sequel I don't get why Ben Affleck/Batman is top billed. To me it's a spit in the face of Henry Cavill sort of thing. But that's just me.
As a huge comic book fan, and a fan of Batman since I was a child, I'll be sitting this one out. I've heard from a friend who saw it that certain "liberties" were taken with the character and his principles, and considering how bad the reviews (both professional and word of mouth) are, I see no reason to waste time and brain cells on it with Civil War coming up soon.

I saw it and thought it was absolutely phenomenal. This is probably the best Batman I've ever seen. He was legitimately frightening at times. Wonder Woman was excellent. Lex grew on me over the course of the movie. There wasn't as much CGI as Man of Steel but the action scenes were better. Plus the cameos for the rest of the JL were pretty exciting, especially Flash.

I like Ben Affleck, but haven't we had enough superhero movies? Ben Affleck is a very good director, I wish he wouldn't waste his time doing stuff like this.

As a huge comic book fan, I'm disappointed that you would allow the opinions of others dictate your own ability to form your own. Go see it. You won't be disappointed. But go purely for enjoying the movie.
I saw it last night and have to say. The critics are total derp derps. It was an excellent movie and I felt a fantastic way to open up the DC universe. I was one of the huge fans of Man of Steel and really admire the direction in which Snyder is taking the films. I mean think about it, of we REALLY had superheros, it would go more like it does in these movies. That's what makes it intriguing.

This infantilization of the movie industry is annoying. Can we get a decent grown-up movie very once in a while?
Notice I didn't say adult movie. Quote:This infantilization of the movie industry is annoying. Can we get a decent grown-up movie very once in a while? They exist. Did you see ex machina? The narrative certainly suffered from all the stuff they felt obliged to cram down our throats. But there is a decent movie in there if you have the patience. They could have cut an hr from that film easy. It really should have been two movies. Wonder Woman was crammed in there. Overall it was very uneven. But Ben did a great Bruce. Pretty good batman - his batman dialogue/logic was pretty weak. My favorite thing about it was it very much played out like a DC justice league comic book (eg all the scifi elements). Worth a watch for sure but it's not going to set the world on fire. Better than ultron tho for sure.
Quote:They exist. Did you see ex machina? I have not. The last movie I saw at the theater was The Revenant, which disappointed me. I shouldn't have read the book first. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Why are batman and superman fighting???? Not enough bad guys to go around now? Maybe they are fighting over one of the very few women super heroes. Just a thought, but I do believe they would be worth fighting over, some more then others depending on their super hero skills. Kind of how the alpha male lions fight over the female lions in the mighty jungle. I could see that.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
I loved the Revenant. Granted, I didn't read the book, but the movie was beautiful to look at the entire way through. Really hadn't seen a movie shot like that before. I'll 2nd Ex Machina. Really well done and thought out.
For what it's worth, it's probably gonna set a box office record despite the critics' reviews. Already made upwards of 80 million just from the first night.

I reached my quota for superhero movies with deadpool, and I just cant imagine a superman movie surpassing that.
I saw the movie and thought it was good, borderline very good. The critics seem to have rated this movie quite poorly, probably worse than I would suggest but do not get it confused, this movie does not hold a candle to the Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale Batman trilogy, as I believe those three movies are easily the best Superhero movies ever made. It is easy to recognize why that trilogy was so highly rated, one did not have to be a fan of any Superhero even Batman to recognize that they were very well made movies with great acting, dialogue, action etc.
I've always felt like Superman was overrated mainly because he's just too powerful, Batman is more realistic perhaps this is why I tend to gravitate towards him. With that being said I was very confused throughout the movie because a lot of it seemed to be long, but necessary backstory. Thankfully my brother in law sitting next to me filled me in that Superman is actually not human, and is from Crypton....I suppose that makes sense now. It could be that it adds to the realism, at the same time I recognize that for one to enjoy Superheroes open mindedness is crucial, but I tend prefer Supervillains over their Superhero counterparts. Maybe it's the cynic in me but I do feel like anyone blessed with any type of super powers would certainly use these powers for their own benefit, and not to better others. In regards to the movie, Lex Luthor was probably my favorite character. Again I am not the most familiar with Superman or any of his nemesis' but Jesse Eisenberg did an excellent job of playing the mad scientist who is itching to ruin the plot for the majority of viewers.
