Quote:I've watched most of his games since last season and I still don't get why people think he has personality concerns. I think he has the perfect personality when it comes to being a quarterback. What personality concerns are you talking about? A friend told me he is a "me me me" guy, so he must be doing something wrong. But I don't know what personality concerns are being reported in the media. Quote:I'm more interested mobileish QBs these days, but what's the situation with Mallett? Is he likely to hit free agency? The Patriots tried to trade him during training camp. The fact that nobody wanted him must mean the Jaguars should stay away. I remember leading up to the draft, many board memebers said they don't like him. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:I will pass on all those qbs they are not worth it I would rather go with a rookie. We're gonna have a rookie either way. We WILL draft a QB at some point in the draft. If it isn't in round one, and Henne goes elsewhere, we're gonna need a veteran. Keep Gabbert? I'd rather not. If we can't keep Henne, I wouldn't mind signing Hill or Clemens. They are at the point in their career they know their role. Vet to hold the clipboard, play if needed if the rookie isn't ready or is injured, etc. So we don't trade back into round 1 and we wait on QB til rd 2, Mettenberger or McCarron are my picks, if they are still there. Murray and Mettenberger have the same injury so if Murray's injury pushes him into round 3, wouldn't it also push Berg?

I remember leading up to the draft, many board memebers said they don't like him. "nobody wanted him" is codeword for they were asking too much for him (in draft picks). They really didn't have all that much incentive to trade him at a low price. Yea they may miss out on a draft pick. But if Brady is injured, they like to know they have a guy who's been in the organization for a while to step in and take over his playoff duties.
Quote:Kellen Clemens You may as well roll with Stanzi. If he couldn't play over these quarterbacks, why even have him on the roster?
Quote: lol....nobody wanted Tom Brady for the first 5 rounds either.... And we don't know that "nobody wanted Mallett", what we do know is that nobody wanted Mallett at the price the Patriots were apparently charging to acquire him. Difference. I think the point is this draft is very deep at Qb many of the Qb's that will go in round 2 or 3 would have gone before any QB in last years draft. So maybe its not the end of the world to win games!
Heck who's to say the Texans dont make a run for Cutler if he is a free agent since they have the best roster of the teams at the bottom. Meaning Teddy falls to us.
Hmmm...Teddy rookie contract + growth and potential vs Cutler's 13+ million a year and injury history. Here, let me make it easy for you: Nobody would take Cutler over Teddy when given the choice.
Quote:Yes to Barr. No to Cutler. If the Bears keep McCown, it'll take a new contract, probably cheap enough and they could draft themselves a new guy for the future. IF they are done with Cutler. Which in my opinion, if he wants a lot of ched, I'd be done with his broken up and down consistency.I know this is going to be a super unpopular idea , but I'd sign Freeman (for what I'd expect him cost) in a heartbeat. He'll be 26 and a year removed from 4000 plus yards and 27 tds. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Would you be happy or unhappy under the scenerio of us picking 3-5 taking a defensive player in Barr or Clowney and passing on the QB in Johhny Football, Hundley, Barr. Then signing Cutler and drafting a QB in round 2 or 3. Yes -- get Cutler and Mack @ center Quote:"nobody wanted him" is codeword for they were asking too much for him (in draft picks). I'm always very suspicious of that "nobody wanted him" tag. How do we know that? We don't, because we don't know what the price tag was. And why wouldn't the Patriots want Mallet as their Matt Flynn-ish ready to plug in backup. Unless they're blown away by an offer this offseason.
The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.
Not interested in Cutler. Caldwell did say having the extra picks gives us room to move up. I wouldn't be against trading up into the 10-15 range for Carr. Manziel in the 2nd might be worth it, but I'm against trading up for him due to his attitude and injury history.
Quote:lol....nobody wanted Tom Brady for the first 5 rounds either.... If somebody really wanted Mallett bad enough he would have given the Patriots what they were asking for. Teams could have negotiated with the Patriots to see if there's a way to get Mallett for less. We will never know if it was the Patriots charging too much or other teams not liking Mallett. Quote:Is it sad of me to say, Id rather roll with Henne than get Cutler? Don't worry. Jay Cutler said he wants to stay in Chicago, so he will try to get a contract extension. I have no reason to doubt the Bears will contact his agent.

There probably will be a team ( s ) that will satisfy Cutler financially but it could easily be a team ( s ) other than the Bears. The current Bears regime wasn't in Chicago when Cutler was traded from the Broncos to the Bears. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Then signing Cutler and drafting a QB in round 2 or 3.Try to look at it this way, if we do not select at the top it is likely that other teams will reach the same conclusion on Bridgewater and Manziel. I really don't think there is any serious consensus about which college players will rise to the top level of the draft. It's really not a good idea to lock onto a small handful of players this soon without scouting reports or draft grades. The draft order isn't even settled yet.

Jay Cutler will very likely look to play elsewhere unless the Bears pay him like a Franchise QB. A veteran team that has many of the ingredients of a playoff caliber roster, with QB currently being a problem area, could easily be willing to meet Cutler's contract demands. Like I expressed earlier in this thread, the Jaguars don't seem to be a good fit for Cutler because it's a team that's building with young players. But a team like the Jets for instance would more likely than not jump at the opportunity for Cutler if they can acquire him as an UFA or even in a trade if the Bears place the Franchise Tag on him. |
