WELP: Norman

My big question is why exactly would the panthers drop the tag? To me it doesn't make sense unless they felt like Norman was a locker room cancer. Even if they never wanted to pay him what he wanted for a long term deal, they had him signed for this year and he was a big part to that team and making it to the super bowl. They had the cap room so it would've only been on the books anyway for this year if they didn't sign him long term and they would've had him for another super bowl run. It is so odd that they would do this.

from 2 sources I read, it doesn't even appear Jags was interested in him. Maybe somebody didn't get the memo he was available???

Quote:There is none. I don't think Caldwell is as interested as we would like him to be. Or Norman isn't interested. Either way doesn't seem like we're major players as of now.
We are one of the top 6, there are 2 tops right now, we will see what happens after he makes some visits

Norman most likely wouldve not signed the tender and held out, and the Panthers didnt want the distraction of that since they realized they werent even close in negotiations. The panthers tagged him in the first place to extend the negotiation period.

I think both parties made the correct moves.

My inside sources tell me Norman demanded a full section of the freezer has to have pistachio ice cream. Gus balked at the demand since nobody else on the team likes that particular flavor. Gus asked Shad if he was willing to add another freezer to accommodate Norman but Shad said it's not in the budget. Gus called Norman back to suggest that he could keep pistachios in his locker and just put them on vanilla soft serve. Norman laughed at the suggestion and said it's not even close to being the same thing.

So looks like Norman probably won't come here Sad

His opening night will he wear a Jaguars mask, I guess not since he's going to CA?

He is nuts... if he thinks he's better than Patrick Peterson, Richard Sherman, and Darrelle Revis

Rumor around the league is that a Redskins- Josh Norman deal could be done by end of business Friday. And it'll be a big $ one. @NFLonFOX

If the Jaguars were in contact with Josh Norman that indicates (at least to me) that they have a corner in mind in either the 1st or 2nd rounds of the draft... IMO

He simply wants to play against Odell twice a year and make Daniel Snyder kind of money.

2015

The Jaguars spent almost $177M in free agency, the 2nd most of any team in this three year study, and were given two thumbs up from the majority of the media as a "free agency winner". Much like the Jets, an odd dynamic exists with teams dubbed as "winners": those who spend the most end up with the most headline players, and they naturally become "winners" in free agency. Unlike the Jets, the Jaguars piled up the money in just a few, massive contracts. The following players signed 4 or 5 year deals worth between $20M and $46M each in the first couple of days of free agency: RT Jermy Parnell, TE Julius Thomas, DE Jared Odrick, CB Davon House and LB Dan Skuta. Then they added multi-year deals with FS Sergio Brown and WR Bryan Walters, and this team was crowned. But like most "free agency winners", the results were not there in year 1. The Jaguars won only 5 games, with 4 of those 5 wins coming by 6 or fewer points. An increase to 6 wins is projected for the Jaguars in 2016, but even a 1 win improvement may not substantiate their 2015 spending spree. -> Warren Sapp..

------------------------------

He is beast off the field too with his insightful reporting (Sapp). The truth is by the Jaguars throwing tons of money at M. Jackson, and possibly Josh Norman only proves that the management feels desperate to turn the team's talent around from lack of drafting over the years. I realize most of it was because the GM scraped almost the entire roster, but many criticize that he didn't need to do that.

You have to be able to coach up the talent you have and make a scheme that works around them instead of getting guys that only fit your scheme. Either way the team was built last year according to the Head Coach & yet only 5 wins was the result despite the total collapse from the Titans & Colts.

That is why I will be watching very closely to this years draft, because if the team truly is going to win this season they have to draft great this year especially in the 1st round!

No surprise, the move made too much sense, so thats why Dave didnt go through with it.
