Leonard Floyd

It's not as far fetched as you guys believe that he's our guy at 5. If we trade back for him there's no way we go past 10 because NYG has their sights set on him according to pretty much everyone. We'd have to move back to 7, 8, or 9 most likely for anything to happen here. I definitely believe Floyd is our main target. Who else in the top 10 would do this? There was just buzz from Jeremiah on Monday that Floyd was rising and could be a target for us at 5. Trading back would make more sense, and ultimately I think this is what happens. Tunsil will likely fall to us and won't go past #6, Buckner seems to be high on a couple teams boards right behind us too.

If Jack's knee doesn't pass the test for us, Ramsey is off the board, who are we clamoring for? I dig Bosa and Buckner but neither fit at LEO. Bosa could once in a while but his speed/burst certainly doesn't scream LEO to me. Looks more like a tradition 4-3 DE/5T in this scheme that can move inside.

Oh my God, we are going to pick Leonard Floyd at 5.......................................

He is the biggest bust I have coming out of this draft even more so than Bosa. This guy is absolutely terrible and would be a waste of a pick.

From CBS Scouting Report

WEAKNESSES: The two major knocks on Floyd are weight and durability. Has lean bone structure with twig limbs, thin torso and scouts have concerns about how much weight he can add - looks like A.J. Green in his Georgia uniform, which isn't a positive comparison for a pass rusher. Below-average functional strength.

Struggles to generate movement at the point of attack or convert speed to power. Too easily controlled on the edges. Can be eliminated by blockers when he doesn't effectively use his length.

COMPARES TO: Barkevious Mingo, Cleveland Browns - Neither players is known for ideal power features. Floyd and Mingo have lean athleticism and get-off quickness to threaten the edge and keep blockers guessing.

If we draft this guy anywhere in the 1st round, we will be the laughing stock of the NFL Network and ESPN draft staff.  Lol.

I have been a big fan of Floyd lately and wouldn't be upset at the pick at all; even at 5. Although, I think it's not a valuable pick at 5 due to others being there. However, Jack is really the only player I want over Floyd. And if Jack's knee is really jack'd Wink up, then I'd be ok with Floyd. I do think a trade back is in the works; most likely with San Fran. Floyd has the best first step in the draft. He just needs to learn a few different moves besides just his speed and he'd be dangerous. Jack is the better LB. But nobody really knows the truth about his knee....

Floyd's speed, along with his pass rush upside+very solid in coverage and versatile makes all the sense in the world. In this defense, he'd be a great piece to add. People quickly compare him to Mingo and Jordan just because they had slight frames and didn't work out.

Pretty sure Jason Taylor and Julian Peterson coming out a few years ago were at similar height/weights and worked out fairly well.

This isn't my ideal target at 5, I don't view him with the Jacks/Ramseys/Bosas etc., but Bosa doesn't fit the edge rusher in this scheme. In a tradition 4-3? Yes. But he isn't quick/fast enough and is too big to play LEO here. Maybe once in a while on 3rd downs it'd work but he'd ultimately end up a 5T/3T in this scheme, same with Buckner. If we're 100% satisfied with those positions and think Floyd can play OTTO/LEO, than pencil him in. He has some rare talent, but he does need to get up to 245 or so.

Agreed here.

Spence is good and all, but even without the off-field issues the guy wouldn't be in the running for a top 5, probably even top 10 pick imo. I would have seen him as a mid 1st even with good on field behavior. He has some questions, people are way to quick to put him as the best edge rusher potential wise in this class but I'm not so sure.

I feel like Floyd is getting way to bad of a rep here just because of Jordan and Mingo, and he isn't the same player.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens if he's our guy, but I like Floyd. Just haven't really thought about him at 5, but the guy seems like a lock at 10 to NYG if we pass on him so IDK why people are acting like it's so crazy, esp. if we didn't clear Jack's knee.

New NFL article says Floyd could take Jack's place for one team.

I told you guys floyd was in the running months ago. They are desparate for pass rush. He's going to start at otto. I'm not a fan of taking him at 5 tho

The trade down rumors make sense if Floyd is our target.
