Ngakoue a classic LEO

(This post was last modified: 04-30-2016, 09:33 AM by diehardjagsfaninsocal.)

After reading this post.

I spent some time looking for videos of this guy.

He does get stoned on some plays. But after getting stoned he seems to try different tactics on subsequent plays and has success.

He has 3 moves he does well.

What excites me most about what I saw?

He's got a motor....dude gets stoned for 3 quarters but never gives up..never stops on a play .

He wears o tackles out and exposes them.

Appears to be fast when turning the corner, has a solid club move , hits the qb hard with bad intentions.

He doesn't just get to and affect the qb.

He grabs and mauls him.

"Ferocious and effective with a mean streak" is my description

He should be a big part of the 3rd down package.  Think about 3rd down and 7 now.  Fowler and Ngakoue from the edge, Marks and Malik Jackson pushing the middle, Myles Jack on the TE and Ramsey covering the slot.  Even the quick passing game of the Pats might have a bit of trouble.

We definitely have a lot to be excited about for next year.

Game 1 can't get here fast enough for me.

I don't think anything short of a slew of major injuries can sour this coming year.

Here's to no injuries and a winning record!

not unlikely, will be fun to watch

I'd be shocked if he outperformed Fowler. Fowler is a much better prospect. I like Yannick but Fowler is on a different level

The D line is going to be sick, w/ upgrades on LB and Corner/Safety this defense is going to be scary... The coaches are on the clock, they have no excuses anymore. Put up or shut up, you have a team now, lets see what you got.

Yannick Ngakoue would be rushing the QB this year, that will be his job, not worried about him vs the run, we have a bunch of other guys to do that.

Quote:I've watched Yannick a good bit. He has an explosive burst, but if the tackle gets his hands on him at all he crumples like a sickly young girl. For example, if you can, go back and watch him against Taylor Decker. Decker manhandled him. It was embarrassing. He's raw. I think he could be really good with hard work and proper coaching. I like the pick.

Good insight.  And it checks out with the weaknesses that scouts also saw:

"WEAKNESSES
Needs to improve timing of the snap. False stepper as standup rusher and takes five steps to gain five yards when bursting upfield. Pops upright out of his track stance rather than firing up the field. Several sacks the result of extended plays or being unblocked. Engrossed with blocks in front of him and loses track of the ball. Lacks quick shed hand strength or an ability to impact game at the point of attack".

As you said, I think with the right coaching and development, he could be very, very dangerous.  He has the physical tools, it is the technique of rushing the passer that he needs work on.  This is a great pick up prospect in the 3rd round.  Yet another awesome decision by our GM.  Seriously, you cannot ask for a better first 3 picks this year.

With Jack at 6'1 245,he'd also make a good edge rusher

Hmmm..if he tackles a QB behind the LOS, the QB got "Gakked!"

If a QB gets picked off by our 2nd rounder, he got "Jacked!"

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!
