Ngakoue a classic LEO

#1

He is 6'2'' 252lbs. 33 inch arms. 10 inch hands. Low 1.6 10 yard split. Can play standing up or with his hands in the dirt. Can bend, bull rush, and has a repertoire of moves and very good college production with a motor. He is a non-factor in the run game but he is exactly what we needed in a 3rd down pass rush specialist to play opposite Fowler. Great pick.

Keep in mind that Dave has been fire in the 3rd round

Why is he so bad against the run? Did 26 reps on the bench press, so he's got some strength; he's short and squat so he should play with good, low leverage... can he be coached up in this area to at least be decent against the run?

The strength doesn't show up on tape against the run. He gets washed out.

So is it lower body strength, poor technique, or a combo?

I've watched Yannick a good bit. He has an explosive burst, but if the tackle gets his hands on him at all he crumples like a sickly young girl. For example, if you can, go back and watch him against Taylor Decker. Decker manhandled him. It was embarrassing. He's raw. I think he could be really good with hard work and proper coaching. I like the pick.

Hmmm

Tweet from Charlie Campbell (@DraftCampbell) - I love #Jaguars Yannick Ngakoue. He tore up Jack Conklin, Taylor Decker, Jason Spriggs, & Brandon Scherff. Ngakoue is a dangerous rusher.

2 tackles, 0 sacks against Ohio State this year.

With that said, 5 games against ranked competition though, and 4.5 sacks in those games. Another 2 sacks against a Penn State team that won 7 of 8 at one stretch.

Here is the thing though. Ohio State had a bunch of 1st and 2nd rounders more then any other team.

So not many pass rushers would of done much against their power house line. Especially on a bad team getting doubled teamed all game long.

Decker handled him easily.

Yeah and I remember when Derrick Harvey beat hake long.

Interesting what Dave said.

They were thinking about selecting him in the second, but obviously Jack was there... If they had done that, he said they would have then looked to trade up for "a LB that went in the middle of the second round" which was definitely Deion Jones.

Perfect scenario so far. Literally perfect.

Perhaps it was against Decker in 2014.

He had 2 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and 1 sack against Ohio State.

From listening to the video on the main page it sounds like Todd Wash was all for this pick.
