Bad tanking.... again

Quote:I have always maintained that the tanking orders come from the owner. That has never, nor will ever change.

If you want to be gullible and naive and pretend Houston isn't tanking, be my guest.

Indy tanked in 2011 for Luck and Houston is tanking this season for Bridgewater. Most people see this except for those that choose not to.

When Jax is mired for 3rd place in the division behind those 2 teams for the next decade with those 2 QB's, you'll still be pretending that those 2 teams never tanked, lol.
You are a very odd little man.

Boy, there seems to be A LOT of 'naive' and 'gullible' people on this board. A LOT.

I just find it fascinating that you're the only one enlightened enough to know all of the inner machinations. I'll bet you were always told you're 'special'.

My God. How utterly ridiculous.

Quote:Winning these "meaningless" games really bugs some folks, but in the end, they're not meaningless. These games we're winning are giving us an indication of where the team is at currently on the player and coaching side of the equation.

We're identifying young core talent that we can continue to build around. Those are the building blocks for the future. The more we can identify now, the better, and winning games now shows the talent is developing.

From the coaching perspective, to see veteran players like MJD and Marcedes Lewis really buying into what Bradley is preaching is an important thing to note. Drew's comments yesterday about wanting to stay here beyond 2013 are encouraging. His steady improvement as the season has progressed is also a good thing. Same with Lewis and the way he's been playing of late. The guy looks like he's in beast mode at times out there.

If you look at the progression of the offense, they were installing so many changes to start the year that it was bound to be tough out of the gate. But, since the bye week, we've seen a lot more production, and more importantly, more creativity in the play calling. We're also finding talent, and catering the play calling to make sure those new play makers like Ace Sanders are given every opportunity to thrive. Fisch deserves a lot of credit for that. He got hammered early in the year for the play calling, but I honestly think it was just a matter of allowing the players to become more comfortable in the offense. Even with Henne at QB, they're showing they can move the ball and make plays. They need to build on that with consistency, but I'll take the progress we've seen so far any day.

On the defensive side of the ball, Andre Branch is another guy who has clearly bought into the Bradley plan, and he might wind up being one of the better reclamation projects of the 2013 season. The guy was practically invisible, but something has clearly clicked for him, and I think it's a matter of coaching. He looks like a different player out there.

Since the bye week, the defense as a whole has started to show signs of significant improvement. Bob Babich has been bashed here by the usual suspects, but again, I think it was about players becoming comfortable in the system. The defense is playing at a significantly higher level recently, and I think a lot of that comes back to coaching, and Babich should get some credit in that regard. They've gotten more creative with the play calling on that side of the ball as well, and we're seeing them manufacture a pass rush despite a lack of real pass rushing talent.

I always wonder why people don't bother to have a little more patience? We were seeing threads about Gus Bradley being on the hot seat a month or two into the season. Same with the coordinators. Anyone who dared to point out that the team gutted the roster and it would take time to see benefits from those moves was summarily dismissed. But, we're starting to see the kind of improvement you'd expect to see from a young team as things start to gel late in the season. So now, those same people who were ready to dump a head coach after half a season are complaining because he's doing what they wanted, winning games and getting this team on track.

Go figure.

Leaving the stadium after a win, ANY win, is a far better experience than walking out after another ugly loss.
Well now....After reading that maybe you're right FBT.

haha, clown....keep pretending that the Colts didn't tank and that the Texans aren't tanking....

If the Texans really had interest in winning games down the stretch here, why would they continue to start Keenum when he's been largely ineffective? Schaub last night despite the late INT clearly was making more positive impact on the offense than Keenum.

You just want to live in fairie tale land.

The Colts for sure tanked. I can't say I agree about the Texans though. They're just a miserable team.

There was at least "some doubt" about the Texans tanking until the recent events that Kubiak was considering going back to starting the better QB; Schaub and then hours later he was fired and the news came out that no, they would continue to start the QB that gives them the least chance of winning.

Any remaining "doubt" about the Texans tanking has vanished. They are clearly tanking to anyone thats not gullible/ naive.

I agree that Schaub is far and away better than Keenum, but following that train of logic they wouldn't have put Schaub in at the end of the game.

Alright I will concede that starting Keenun definitely seems like a tanking kind of move, but firing Kubiak isn't a tanking kind of move. So I don't think you can reach that conclusion.

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

How much do you think Kubiak lost in potential tanking severance pay?

My God. You've said so much ridiculous garbage YOU can't even keep it straight. More than once, in this very thread, you accused Schaub of being in on the tank. And now you're saying they're tanking because he ISN'T going to play.

And I'm the clown.

Quote:Tanking comes from the owner in all cases. Its happening here with Houston for Bridgewater, and it happened in 2011 with Luck, when Irsay had vision of Luck leading the team to playoffs for the next decade before his drafting.

You seriously don't think that McNair isn't VERY familiar with who Bridgewater is? lolwut???? Laughing

Never mind the fact that a billionaire puts himself at risk of a jail term, and being permanently expelled from the NFL if it can be proven that he tanked a season on purpose.  Nooooo, Teddy Bridgewater is so valuable that Bob McNair would  willingly risk one of his co-conspirators going to the authorities, or, worse  yet, the press.

I'm wondering if behind the scenes thats also part of what is getting Kubiak canned 3 games early....

It's impossible to prove and it happens all the time in the NBA. A GM just came out and said it, so that's completely irrelevant.

Quote:did u see that pass?!?!?!?!? I mean, only the JAGUAR was "wide open",,,,,

The Texans are tanking, just like the Colts.

But again, as said, I won't care as long as we still end up as consistent winners.

So Schaub is or isn't in on it? Which is it?

Quote:

In an anonymous piece for ESPN the Magazine, one general manager admitted that he and his owner had discussed a plan to tank this season, all for the greater good.

<blockquote class="">
Our team isn't good enough to win and we know it. So this season we want to develop and evaluate our young players, let them learn from their mistakes -- and get us in position to grab a great player. The best way for us to do that is to lose a lot of games. This draft is loaded. There are potential All-Stars at the top, maybe even franchise changers. Sometimes my job is to understand the value of losing.

[...]
We're not alone. Look at the 76ers. Since the draft in June, I don't think they've signed a player or made a trade to add a legitimate player. A bunch of us realize that our teams aren't good enough talentwise to do anything. You're going to be bad. There's no way around it. And even if you finish 0-82, there's still a 75 percent chance you don't get the No. 1 pick. We're just going to take our lumps and hope our number gets called.
