Bad tanking.... again

Quote:Man, if you believe that crap, you probably believe in the Loch Ness monster and the tooth fairy.

No one is going to take the legal and financial risk of intentionally losing games.

That isn't accurate, in fact it's naive to suggest the opposite. It happens all the time in the NBA and the trend is starting to come the NFL now as well. There is no legal or financial risk involved because it would be impossible to prove one way or the other.

lol, ok.

It will be interesting in future years when this stuff leaks out that the Colts/ Texans did "allegedly" tank from some whistleblower that was related to those teams and I hope this board is still around to read some of the responses from the people who so starkly deny that this is happening.

But when Bridgewater and Luck are the prizes at the end of the tunnel and you are talking 2 teams that saw opportunities to get their QB for the next decades, and see anomalous losing streaks of grand proportion out of basically nowhere in each's case, you'd be a fool not to suspect that something was shady that was going on.

I'll grant you the Colts, but the Texans literally imploded. I don't see any evidence to suggest that they tanked, in the way the Colts basically gave up the season, so I commend them for that.

Quote:It seemed like he was trying to win the game up until that INT. Maybe that was part of the plan. The way the Colts played in weeks 15 & 16 of 2011 when there was a cushion between them and the closest suitor for the number one pick is the same thing on a bigger scale. Helped to give the "appearance" that they were still trying to win. Yesterday, The Texans played "well enough to lose"....same thing smaller scale.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Texans actually win a game if some cushion develops between them and the next closest team to the #1 pick before the season ends.
I think it was a yes or no question, was he trying to win the game or not?

Really. I mean how could the Colts not go on some massive winning streak with Orlovsky and Painter at the reins. And that loser Manning was probably in on it too with that fake neck surgery.

Well, assuming the Schaub INT was just a legit fluke honest mistake, and given that otherwise he was the only bright spot in that game yesterday for the Texans, then one could argue that the Texans decision to stick with Keenum the rest of the way when its clear that Schaub gives them the best chance to win, well, thats some evidence that they are tanking - at least at this stage of the season...even if you want to believe that they might not have been before.

I can tell you this, JJ Watt wasn't tanking, neither was Andre Johnson

Why on earth do you think a team that intended to win football games would roll with Painter and Orlovsky as their QB?

no it's quite obvious that Schaub is part of conspiracy, the only question is how much did McNair pay him to jeopardize his future as a starting QB

I didn't see the Patriots fall from an 11 win team to 0-14 after they lost Tom Brady and had to start Matt Cassel, who hadn't been a full time starter at QB since high school, before the Patriots were forced to do so following Brady's ACL tear in game 1 that season....

A regression without Manning could be expected. A flat out colossal collapse to the point of 0-14 especially combined with the perfect timing of having Andrew Luck in that upcoming draft is something only people who don't want to see the possibility of foul play factoring in would accept...

True, but I wouldn't technically consider that a tank in the same fashion as a team like Indy, who makes the decision in the preseason.

Maybe...and I know this is a wild theory...because their starting QB had serious neck surgery and didn't play all year.

They tanked and their fans openly gloat about it http://forums.colts.com/topic/20734-we-sucked-for-luck/

They had a whole offseason to acquire a legitimate NFL QB.

Oh I agree. I don't think the Texans orchestrated their tank from before this season started. In that way it was different than the Colts in 2011. I'm guessing their decision to start following this path was within the last month or so, when they realized they weren't making the playoffs anyway, and Bridgewater pretty much solidified himself as this years prize QB with yet another quality season. McNair figured that QB is pretty much their only missing piece, and whatever the details be, gave the order not to win anymore games this season (unless a cushion develops between them and the 2nd pick) with the intention of getting the top pick.

So did the Chiefs tank for Eric Fisher last year?

Quote:Schaub's INT in the 4th Q was so bad that if you didn't at least suspect something shady going on, then you probably need a drool bucket underneath you.

His play otherwise in that game was the only bright spot the Texans had. He gives that team more chance to win than Keenum does, thats for sure.

Bottom line is, McNair want the #1 pick, Thats the priority and has been the priority since probably about the midway point of this season.

Continue to pretend like its not happening.
It's amazing how deep a hole you're willing to dig yourself in order to convince the world you're not an idiot conspiracy theorist.  Just admit it and move on.

You linked to a thread with Colts fans gloating about getting Richardson. Hilarious to read.

LOL, thats stupid. to even suggest as a point.  No team would tank for an O-Lineman.

But for a QB on the levels of Luck, and Bridgewater? - especially for the Texans who otherwise have few other weaknesses rosterwise....???

So what's the difference between the Chiefs last year and the Texans this year?

When your little man crush turns out to be more Geno Smith than Peyton Manning, I'm sure we'll see volumes of bilge from you telling us how you knew he was going to be a bust, so you'd better post that somewhere just in case.
