Jags looking to trade depth

If I had to choose between Marks and Alualu I don't think it would take me very long to make a decision.

If I had to choose between trading Marks for OL depth and keeping Alualu and keeping Marks around and cutting Alualu I don't think it would take me very long to make a decision.

What OL depth are you getting from Marks? People aren't just giving away a good OL for someone that we would potentially cut in that scenario.

Alualu might be the most underwhelming player in Jags history. I have never seen him make a big play in his career, aside from the occasional coverage sack. I often notice him getting pushed aside against the run, or completely stonewalled trying to rush the passer, otherwise I wouldn't even know he was on the field.

No way should we trade Marks, the heart and soul of this defense for a long stretch, and keep the perpetually below average alualu. Tyson brings absolutely nothing to the defense.

Best play Alualu ever had was sacking Brady a few years ago.

Depends on the O-Line man we get. If you're looking for run of the mill depth you can wait around until final cuts and find that. The only way I'm trading Marks is if a bonafide starter happens to end up on some team's roster bubble, I'm not trading him for some scrub backup.

Yea, now that I think about it I remember that one. Went right by the OL and crushed Brady.

if he could do that a few times a season I would be pretty happy with him.

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

I thought that was all pretty obvious. I don't see him being cut either. I'm saying if decent OL depth happens to be available and we don't want to risk trying to sign a camp casualty then I see Marks as expendable.

Maybe nobody will be available and we will have to settle for cuts but I could see Marks being shopped around.

I don't know specifically. I do not see Marks being cut.

How about those catches he had last season?

Marks may get cut and I honestly don't see how that would be a surprise to anyone now.

I think the question mark is Sheldon Day.  Has he been practicing?  Last night on the radio I heard them talking about his "bad back" so I'm wondering how severe it is.

If they like Bennett's progress, and they think Sheldon Day is a good player in the making that needs playing time, then you're left with Jackson, Bennett, and Day as the 3T.

My heart says we can't trade Marks because of how he's been best part of the defense the last few years before injury.

But I suppose it all depends on what we could get in return.

You're confused. Traded maybe.

He will not get cut.

It's definitely tough and I don't see any way they cut Marks, but the fact is he's 29, he was the best part of a bad defense 2 years ago, has had 2 consecutive season ending injuries, and is a rotational player behind a guy we gave huge money to. Plus we've drafted guys for the same position in 2 consecutive years. Everything adds up to him being the guy most likely to be traded.

Alualu I think gets cut regardless of what happens to Marks. I don't see any way they keep him.

It's also the most heavily rotated position on the field. If they really want this line to "come in waves" like they are saying, then he's a perfect rotational 3tech.

Still, if they can get a quality guard, then we have Day and Bennett to throw in there, so.....

Yep. I would much rather have Marks rotating with Jackson, but if Dave can get a quality starting offensive lineman at any of the Oline spots, I think it would be worth it. Shoring up our Oline for Blake is more important than Marks' contribution, unless Marks returns to 2014 form.

Trading marks for a 4th round draft pick would be stupid, but any quality starting offensive lineman, don't care what position, would be worth it imo.

Alualu has no trade value and is probably getting cut regardless.
