***OFFICIAL 2016 Summer Olympic Games Thread***

Quote:I knew the second I saw that interview where he was saying the guy put the gun to his forehead and he replied with "Whatever man". Kid has never had a gun to his head and if he did  he would [BAD WORD REMOVED] himself. He got caught in a blatant lie and that's that. Completely foolish and possibly criminal.
So true. I've had a gun pointed at me and I was most definitely not like, "whatever man." I didn't crap my pants, but it wasn't fun and games. He gets what he deserves.

CNN reported they were drunk, damaged a locked bathroom door, were confronted by a security guards who detained them, called the cops and summoned the owner. It got rowdy, a gun was pulled, but it was all settled when the swimmers paid the owner a bit of cash. What's mind boggling is why Ryan Lochte made up the lie when it was all settled. I heard one report it had something to do with what he told his mother, maybe lied to her and chose to lie to the world instead of facing her. I'm not sure if that's true but it would be hilarious if it is.

It's like watching the Florida Gators play Northern Mississippi in week 2.

Considering population sizes the UK are smashing the US in performance. That's without the same history of sweeping drugs offences under the carpet.

Quote:I've seen many many many events where the US didn't win medals.  Heck, the NBC company is showing werestling and there isn't a dog in the fight for Greco wrestling.  Numerous athletes in track and field aren't winning.
USA are exceptional at swimming and athletics but no better at most of the other events than anyone else. Just like GB are great at cycling, Japan are great at judo etc.

I heard a new term last night: the "Usain Bolt Triple-Double".

It's when you win the 100 and 200 meter sprint for three straight Olympics.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Before countries start bringing up drug use about the US, lets not act like your country isn't using it.  IF an athlete is using performance enhancers and your athlete beats them, you think they did that cleanly?

I don't think anyone has or was going to talk about drug use. These olympic sports are full of drug-users from every nation.

I don't enjoy comments like these:

Sure the USA are doing great and that's cool but talking trash on smaller nations is dumb. Some of these countries are absolutely tiny! Nauru have sent atheletes to the olympcis and they have a population of 10,000 people... Jacksonville has 840,000 for comparison.

& If it was a continental thing then Europe would be way ahead in the medals table  Wink

He goes for the triple-triple tonight, in the 4X100 relay, which the Jamaican team won in 2008 and 2012. If they win, Bolt's 9 track and field gold medals will tie Carl Lewis and Paavo Nurmi, a Finnish distance runner from the 1920s.

An amazing athlete.

I don't know why he wouldn't come back for 2020.  He'd smoke everyone again.

MoJo, Gronk, Tony Hawk, and other athletes say what sport they would dominate in the Olympics. I'd love to see MoJo doing the sport he picked much less dominate.  Just something fun to watch for a minute or so.

The women's Bronze medal volleyball match is a good one. Currently tied at 1-1.

Edit: Good match, but the U.S. pulled away.
