Quote:It was a Survivor emotional roller coaster for me yesterday! BAL got down 20-2 and DET looked like they were handling TEN pretty well. Then things started to reverse for both teams. At that point in time, things certainly didn't look good for Baltimore and Tennessee. Then thinking about it now in hindsight, the ways the Browns and Lions lost prime time games in 2015 to the Ravens ( MNF- blocked FG return ) and Packers ( controversial facemask penalty, followed by Aaron Rodgers 61 yard TD desperation pass ) respectively in the same week, the turnarounds shouldn't have been surprising. One thing for sure, NFL Survivor gets more challenging as the season goes on. Those that picked Seattle over Miami in week # 1, such as myself, are very fortunate about the Seahawks late come from behind victory. That much more after the Seahawks only scored 3 points against the Rams yesterday. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I picked Seattle week 1 too. I just want an easy week where I can coast! Looks like we picked Seattle at a good time because they aren't very good. A ton of people went out yesterday picking them. It was glorious! Quote:I picked Seattle week 1 too. I just want an easy week where I can coast! The ankle injury Russell Wilson is dealing with and the problems the Seahawks have on their Offensive Line, in part because of the injury factor, could indeed reinforce what you mentioned for at least the foreseeable future. The Seahawks Defense is going to have to play like the 2000 Ravens Defense for them to win consistently until further notice.

Dolphins (Browns) Packers (Lions) Cardinals (Bills) Would like to use Miami while I have the chance. What are your thoughts? I'll probably chicken out and pick GB or ARI at the last minute.

We went from fantasy questions to Stroud's surviver league.
But it's all good. Quote: For me, the decision probably will come down to the Cowboys ( Bears ) or the Dolphins ( Browns ). Right now, I'm not confident in the Lions chances of pulling off an upset in Green Bay the 2nd straight season. The team's injury situation is now acute, at least for the time being. Yet, the likelihood of the Lions finally winning in Green Bay last season was less than it is this year. The point spread difference reflects that. Also, this is a divisional game and the Packers are not quite in sync on Offense. Having said all of this, I admit my objectivity is at least somewhat limited with this game and all Lions games. The Bills looked horrible for most of their game against the Jets. With 10 days off though, the Bills already in desperation mode, and the game being in suburban Buffalo, there's enough doubt that this game won't be my selection. I expect Arizona to win but wouldn't be shocked by an upset. Miami is very tempting against Cleveland. My two concerns are the Dolphins haven't demonstrated that they are a relatively comfortable selection against any team and the Browns have an x factor at QB in rookie Cody Kessler. I'm probably going to select Dallas. The Cowboys are at home. And a Bears team with many talent/ experience issues to begin with was hit very hard by injuries last night.

Quote: For me, the decision probably will come down to the Cowboys ( Bears ) or the Dolphins ( Browns ). Yeah, I guess I should have included Cowboys. Bears looked terrible and Brian Hoyer will likely be their QB next week. I have confidence in the Cowboys getting better later in the year and am not so confident in the Dolphins doing the same. That is why I am leaning towards getting Miami off my board as soon as possible. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! I usually use the strategy in taking the available team I'm most confident in, hoping to even be alive in the contest later in the season. The downside of course is along the lines of what you mentioned in that the choices will be more difficult later in the season as a result. The hope though from the standpoint of the contest is that unexpected opportunities will present themselves later in the season.
Heres me and my friends shared team starting out not good 0-2. Tips?

No Fun
Quote:Heres me and my friends shared team starting out not good 0-2. Tips?I would plug Julius Thomas in at TE. He's been playing really good early on. I would also bench Hyde this week vs Seattle and replace him with Coleman vs the Saints. I would also bench Diggs this week and replace him with Crabtree. Diggs will be facing a tough defense, while Crabtree will face the Titans. It would be risky to start Watkins vs Ari. I would go with Crabtree. Scour the waiver wire for Victor Cruz or perhaps the Baltimore defense this week. Note: stick with the Panthers defense but don't allow an opponent to have Ravens defense. If you have to drop someone, I would drop Ivory. Then pick him back up afterwards. I hope I explained this right. Remember always scour the waivers...

Though I haven't played FF in around 6 years, I'll gladly participate in the discussion. Whether its NFL Survivor, FF, or any other contest, it's all related to overall NFL discussions.
nhiverson, how many teams are there in your FF league? Two things about your team that are attention getting is the quality of your WRs and TEs. Though it's hard to predict FF totals in a given week, at least for me, the impact that Antonio Brown and Stefan Diggs are having on games is attention getting. Eric Ebron had a TD taken away from him late in the 2nd QTR of the Tennessee game because of a questionable Pass Interference penalty. Ebron overcame an ankle injury that sidelined him for the entire pre-season. As a receiver, he's clearly raised his game to a higher level. Ebron is currently a below average in-line run blocker but he's still played in the vast majority of the Lions Offensive snaps in the first 2 games. Each Tuesday, Lions beat writer ( from the Det. Free Press ) Dave Birkett, who is excellent in that role, writes an article about FF. This week's article focuses on the injuries that Ameer Abdullah and 6 NFL RBs suffered in week # 2. If you and/ or anyone else is interested in these weekly articles, please let me know and I'll try to post the link each week: http://www.freep.com/story/sports/nfl/li.../90741036/

With Ameer Abdullah being officially placed on I.R. today and hence out for at least 8 weeks ( 7 games and the bye week ), if Dwayne Washington is still available for anyone who needs another RB option, at the very least he's well worth considering. Washington's big play ability has been on display since the first pre-season game since he ran back a 96 yard kickoff for a TD. In order to keep Theo Riddick fresh for 3rd Down type of receiving situations, I think it's in the Lions best interest to use Dwayne Washington as the primary rushing option. Whether that will eventually happen during Abdullah's absence, time will tell.
Quote:Definitely wouldn't bench Diggs for Crabtree. Look at who they are playing. You said TENN wouldn't win last week too.
FF is probably 80% luck. If you have the time to scour the waiver wire and get the backups of the guys who got hurt, you are most likely going to succeed.
I've seen people "set it and forget it" and go deep into the playoffs. All luck. |
