Jealous of the Eagles tbh

Quote:Gus never wanted an outsider. He wanted someone who was going to continue to run his defensive scheme. Schwartz would have been an outstanding hire and he might have wanted to come here because if Gus is fired, he could get promoted.

Again... Gus failed.

So why did he interview any outsiders?

Because he felt he needed to so that it would appease the fans and Khan.

His plan all along was to hire Wash.

Personally I don't think he had a choice in it. Anyone decent could see that Gus is a complete incompetent. The whole NFL probably recognizes he's one of the worst head coaches of all time. Why would you want to walk into that kind of situation and be set up for failure?

No, everyone Gus called likely said thanks but no thanks. He could only hire from within because everyone could see he was a dead man walking. Khan made a big mistake bringing him back and extending him.

After being fired as Lions HC and losing his job as Bills DC in consecutive years,  Jim Schwartz took a year off from coaching.   My gut feeling is Schwartz's mindset was he wanted a more stable situation than what the Jaguars could have offered being that Gus Bradley clearly entered the 2016 on the hot seat despite the one year contract extension.   Because Doug Pederson was entering his 1st season as Eagles HC,  barring something totally unexpected,  Schwartz would have the opportunity to help build something in Philadelphia beyond the 2016 season.   Which would increase his chances of getting another opportunity as an NFL HC.
