I know I should evacuate...but I also know that I won't.  You can't fix stupid.

No, but you can spray your house and lawn with Rain-x. That'll keep the water at bay. If you've got any large trees in the yard you can tie them down with some twine. You'll be ok.

Those are really good ideas.  I'll tie down all of the big trees to my fence and rain gutters.

I got 40lbs in the deep freeze this morning, hopefully thats enough for the food to survive any outages. The bourbon and its brethren are going with us.

Quote:Looking at weather.com they are saying this could be the most worrisome hurricane to come up the east coast of FL in quite some time. They've said to make your preparations and evacuation plans NOW. They've stressed it several times just in one article from this morning.

Nhc.noaa.gov is a good site to look at for the non-biased information. They just report the facts.

Thank you for the update, but I am just curious, what does a biased weather report look like exactly?

Just the- OH MY GAWD WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!- news. That's what I meant. NOAA just has the information. If you click on 'discussion' it tells you what the hurricane hunters saw if they made a trip since the previous update as well as other stuff. Pretty interesting.

Again, I'm just concerned about all of the pine trees that surround my house.  St. Marys, Georgia.  30 miles North of Jax.

This was my concern when it looked like it was coming this way. We're already saturated and have had trees come out at the roots. We're going to get steady rain from a front starting tonight for about 36 hours straight. Any strong winds we might get from just a front coming through could fall a tree at this point.

Dang y'all. This is a video taken in the Bahamas. The weather guy is 25 miles from the eyewall and the wind and rain is crazy, the gusting winds even moreso and it's only a Cat 3.

Video

He said there was lightning which apparently means the storm is ramping up or strengthening.

It looks like the eyewall passed just west of Nassau, which means that Nassau was on the right (worst) side of the storm. Good luck to everyone there.

Kinda stupid to be standing in it right in front of a knocked over tree/shrub. Then says to watch out for coconuts that act like cannon balls.

Shouldn't there be some type of law or regulation against displaying ads on hurricane updates?
