Jags MB Election Poll

Quote:I agree Dems should do more for blacks to earn their support. But when you consider how Republicans treat that group, it's understandable they don't need to do much to maintain that loyalty. This is not the Republican party that freed the slaves. This is the Republican party that spent billions on an ill-conceived war on drugs that targeted and incarcerated millions of blacks. They have actively gerrymandered voting districts to marginalize the power of the black vote so they wield less influence on the outcome of elections. They propped up a candidate who courts a vision of nationalism with a primary focus on targeting minorities. They have promoted countless bills to suppress the black vote despite any evidence of widespread voter fraud. Their party has almost no diversity, and even when they do have black "leaders," they are people like Herman Cain, Ben Carson or Allen West who lack a real grasp on the issues. They advocate draconian policies targeting people on assistance which have been proven to not work and be a waste of money. And when America got its first black president, countless people representing that party were caught sending overtly racist emails or tweets. So yeah.. the Dems should do more for blacks. But can you blame blacks for not backing a Republican party that does nothing to court, help or show respect for them?

Yes, that is their Achilles heel.  IMO, it's a perception problem.  But, that does not change if you do not try.  I agree that's their biggest challenge.  They just assume their message alone will attract those who are for self-reliance, desire for more, and believe that they can achieve more.

But it's also a two way street.  When anyone on the right opens their mouth, are they heard?  Are they looked at as someone to be looked up to as a leader by those convinced that the left is their way?  Or are there epithets in mind?

I think that's the biggest challenge, and it's a good debate that needs to happen.  Progress must be made there.  But it does take two.  Regardless of race, there's no "middle ground" between the two poles for many people, and there's simply no desire to see the other side in some cases.

Just got back home from having breakfast with my son, voting, and dropping him off at daycare.  No intimidation, coercion or shady stuff going on at my polling location, which was Tudor Middle School here in Anchorage.

I ended up writing in Bernie Sanders for the Presidential ticket.  It's a wasted vote, but my conscience is clear.

I'll leave for work in a few minutes, but I'll be following the election results while at work.

Speaking of Bernie... I heard it was proven that the machines were rigged and switched votes from Bernie to Hillary in the DNC primary. If they switched them then, it makes sense that they would be switching votes now to Hillary. This election is seriously rigged, and I can only hope that paper vote turnout is much, much higher than the rigged machine turnout.

After seeing to the extent the 2012 Presidential Election was rigged with voter fraud,  everything you mentioned recently in this thread and the other thread with voter fraud wouldn't surprise me in the least.   One major difference is Donald Trump isn't going to be quiet about it like Mitt Romney was.

I would look at what happened in IOWA when he lost the first primary there. He wont be near as blustery as people expect if its not a very close margin like Bush/Gore

So much will probably depend on the numbers not only on a state level but from certain EDs in a given city.   If Donald Trump is getting 0 votes in many EDs,  I don't think he's going to be quiet about it even if he loses the overall election by a significant margin.

Quote:I don't think we can make America great again by starting trade wars, torturing prisoners, excluding entire religions from entering the country, deporting 11 million people, giving nuclear weapons to Japan and Saudi Arabia, and/or renegotiating the national debt.   I don't think spending 20 billion dollars building a wall on the southern border will help, either.

All correct, except I don't know how a border wall is going to cost $20 billion.

Let me add to it: Allowing employers to underpay workers who do less work in the same amount of time.

That makes no logical sense.

He's not giving them nukes. He's talking about renegotiating deals with these countries because of they are costing us billions to protect. What he's saying here is it's better to let these countries develop nukes than to continue with the current in deal in place.

Of course it doesn't, just like banning all Muslims from entering the country despite the fact that most of them are innocent.

If Trump wants Saudi Arabia and Japan to develop their own nukes, how is he giving them nukes?

Most, meaning not all. And he didn't say permanently ban them, just temporarily until they can find out which part of those most aren't innocent. Don't you think that's important?
