Mike McCarthy on the hot seat?

#81

Lol if McCarthy looks this bad with Rodgers and GB talented roster, what on earth makes you think he will work magic with us?

Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster

The problem is people who say McCarthy looks bad are making it up. The problem is always injuries in Green Bay, not poor coaching. In fact his worst coaching mistake was handing play calling duties to the OC in 2015. In the middle of that season he went back to calling the plays himself. Green Bay's offense showed improvement immediately. Putting Eddie Lacy in his office for being overweight shows he will hold players accountable if they get lazy and out of football shape. I have no idea why some people think this guy is a bad coach just because he has five losses this season.

So all those green bay fans who watch the games week in and week out and can plainly see problems in his offense are making it up?

But he yelled at Lacy for being fat meanwhile lacy is still fat but hey he tried, so good coach i guess.

I did not say anything about Green Bay fans.

I clearly stated Jaguars fans who say Mike McCarthy is a bad coach are making stuff up. Eddie Lacy made a huge effort with a renowned professional to bring his weight down to an amount that McCarthy is happy with.

"the problem is people saying mccarthy looks bad are making it up" were your exact words, no fanbase specified. Either way it doesnt matter, whats the difference between a Jags fan seeing an uninspired packers team and a packers fan seeing the same thing. No ones making anything up, their offense isnt very good right now because they keep going away from things that are working for no reason. This is mccarthy. The packers not being able to manufacture any semblance of a run game despite having a solid line is on him too.

This is where liking two teams can be a good thing. Because you only watch the Jaguars and their opponents, you don't know what Mike McCarthy and has assistants have been doing or read Green Bay injury reports. You don't read stories about the Packers or visit some of their fans in Titletown. Nothing compares Packers fans and Jaguars fans.

But i dont only watch the jaguars, i am aware of what mccarthy is doing on the field, and i am aware of their injuries. All this information is readily available to anyone, not just packers fans.

Every team MJF touches turns to crap to be honest. Now, go do everybody a favor and become a fan of another AFCS team as your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th favorite team!

Though the Packers have pulled out of major adversity in some of Mike McCarthy's past seasons as HC,  they clearly have an uphill battle to even get to the 9 win mark this season.  Before finishing with 3 divisional games,   the Packers go on the road to play the Redskins and Eagles,  both coming home to play the Texans and Seahawks.   IMO,  this is a difficult 4 game stretch for a team dealing with injuries that have already been costly for them.

If the Packers don't win at least one playoff game this season,   I think the two parties will decide to go in another direction.   With McCarthy getting another NFL HC opportunity either in 2017 or 2018.

Mike McCarthy has lost several playoff games with no risk of losing his job. Missing the playoffs altogether could do it though.

It is easy to downplay the Redskins. only to remind myself Green Bay's last two losses were against AFC South teams.

Every season,  the Packers are getting further away from their most recent Super Bowl win.   That occurred 6 seasons ago.   Expectations in Green Bay have been high for a long time.   An early exit in the playoffs is not what was envisioned by the team's collective fan base.    When combining this with the Offensive inconsistencies the Packers have had since after Game # 6 in the 2015 season and Mike McCarthy in his 11th season as the team's HC,   a mutual parting seems to be more likely than not.

I came into the season expecting Green Bay to take back the NFC North. Now I am not so sure the Packers will even get in as a wild card team. The loss at Minnesota was a killer.

One thing to keep in mind is Ted Thompson also deserves some blame. He is known as a GM who hates FA because most of his signings have been contract extensions and draft picks.

The loss at Minnesota clearly hurt Green Bay because it was a divisional game.   Yet,  even with that loss,  the Packers currently have a better divisional record than the Lions and Vikings.    Losing 4 out of the last 5 games,  including a one point loss in Atlanta,  and at home to an Indianapolis team currently with a losing record,   has put the Packers in a precarious position.    Especially,  with the upcoming schedule and doubts surrounding the players.

Ted Thompson hit grand slams with the FA signings of CB Charles Woodson and OLB/ DE Julius Peppers.   This season,  he probably should have tried harder to add a vertical piece at WR,  especially with Jordy Nelson coming off a torn ACL and the struggles the Offense had after Game # 6 last season once opponents adapted to the Packers not having the vertical threat from Nelson.   Yet,  overall,  this is still a very good roster that's been hit hard by injuries.   IMO,  Ted Thompson is a huge asset for the Packers and amongst the least of their problems.

GM's with franchise QB's get way too much credit for being better than they actually are.

That's at least the case with some GMs.  Ryan Grigson comes to mind with the Colts as an example of this.

In the case of Ted Thompson,  his decision to draft Aaron Rodgers in the latter part of Round 1,  despite Brett Favre still playing at a high level and clearly far from finished,  raises Thompson's overall job performance substantially.

Also to Thompson's credit,  he's done a great job building an Offensive Line with mostly middle round picks.

Ted Thompson's ability to retain a lot of good players is one reason the decision to Josh Sitton shocked everyone. I always liked him for that and thought the Sitton cut was a huge mistake.Obviously the Peppers and Woodson signings were grand slams. Unfortunately his failure to make similar moves on the offense bit him in the butt. When a WR is the starting and leading rusher you know RB should be a top priority in the next draft.

What is worse, trailing a terrible Colts team at home 30-13 before closing the gap or allowing 47 points at Tennessee, including 21 in the first quarter? Both games were embarrassing.
