Draft order

#61

Redskins lose in the last 2 minutes. Had a chance to get in position for a FG in the last 1:08 but went 4 and out. Clutch.

Could someone post all of the possibilities? Kind of like what they do with the playoffs? Ya know Arizona gets in with a win + team x loss + team y loss. I have tried, but I am not sure of the rules for ties and sos. Thanks, in advance.

if I am not mistaken, if the season ended today we would be picking #7. If Washington wins it doesn't matter Houston gets the #1 pick even if they win. If washington wins I believe they will be picking #4 which would then bump the raiders to #2 & the browns to #3. Bucs would be 5 Falcons 6 and Jags 7.

Browns @ Steelers

Redskins @ Giants

Texans @ Titans

Jags @ Colts

Vikings @ Lions (if all the 4-11 teams win and the Vikings lose the Vikings would jump to #2 I think)

Panthers @ Falcons

Bucs @ Saints

Broncos @ Raiders

I Think the steelers, Giants, Titans, Colts, Panthers, Saints and Broncos all have a really high chance of winning. Now some teams like the Colts, Panthers, & Broncos could rest their starters tho I am not sure they would. I think there is a very real possibility that we pick outside of the top 5.

This is my first attempt at trying to actually figure out the draft order so I probably messed something up. Here are my resources in the event I did something wrong.

Jaguars are 3rd right now and will stay that way with a loss. See very little chance of a win next week with all the injuries on the defensive line. Colts will be able to run the ball all game long. With Washington win, Jags will move up to 2nd pick.

Unlike the playoff races, there is only one tiebreaker to worry about: SOS. Our losses to the Raiders and Bills mean nothing here because HTH is not a tiebreaker. So there aren't a lot of scenarios for draft pick order like there are for the playoffs. You can see the SOS for each team on the website that somebody posted a link to earlier.

CBS shows the Jags with the #3 pick but they also show a different SOS than Stevie, and they show our SOS tied with Oaklands. Notice the difference in those 2 sites for the Skins and Texans. If the Skins lose and the Texans win the skins 'might' get the #1 pick correct? Beings both the Titans and the Giants are both 6-9 I would imagine the SOS would stay the same thus giving the Texans the #1 and Skins #2, or am I wrong on that?

Your post is riddled with errors.

1. If the season ended today, we would pick #3 after the Rams.

2. The Vikings play at home. They already palyed at Detroit.

3. Minnesota's only chance of picking before us is trading up.

4. The Colts, Panthers, and Broncos will not rest their starters.

You are doing everything wrong.

The Texans are 2-13. The Redskins are 3-12. So a Texans win and Redskins loss would be needed for the Rams to have any chance of clinching the top pick. And that depends on SOS, of course.

I suppose it's a good thing I started with "if i am not mistaken" and ended with "so I probably messed something up".

I have been researching how to calculate this. Some sites have houston as having a weaker SOS than the Skins.

Skins .514 Texans .554 http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/12/22/5...s-redskins

Skins .511 Texans .493 http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-d...er-week-16

So as you can see it's not super easy to be just learning this stuff and be able to figure out who would pick #1 if the skins and texans end with the same record.

I think the reason not all websites show you the same SOS is some only include games already played and others include all 16 games. It would be nice if they all explain where their calculations end. The correct method is counting all 16 games because we are not talking about "if the draft was today."

Man, just wait until the season plays out on Sunday. It will then all be explained.

We only have four months to go over this, and over this, and over this ...

I hope this happens.

This would probably make our second round pick lower, with the addition of another 4 win team, but if it meant guaranteed access to all but one player in the first round, including guaranteed access to Bridgewater or Clowney, I'd take it in a second.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

Be careful what you wish for. Right now five teams are 4-11, so if they all lose (which I expect), we will get the #8 pick in Round 2. Do you reallyl want that?

I wish I could make a table here to show the draft order for the first 10 picks in all 7 rounds in a way that is easy to read. Someday I will figure out if it is possible.

For now, I will just figure out our pick numbers in each round if we stay at 3.

Yep. Second would be a good spot to be in.

But if the Texans pick Bridgewater, it does not help much. I don't want Clowney unless he can prove all reports about a lack of effort are wrong.
