Um, its quite obvious. Mike Smith is not a disciplinarian, too much of a players coach just like Gus. Mike Smith also had Matt Ryan at Quarterback.

A lot of them have finished high in yards but in the 20s for points.

That's a pretty big sweeping generalization.  Do you actually believe that it's impossible for a coordinator working under BB to go on to be a successful HC?

Right.  I'm aware of that.  That doesn't force me to assume that every coordinator that serves under Belichick will fail if given a head coaching job. 

 

It's a correlation and causation fail to make that assumption IMO.

Going off of past results and those are facts. Why make a risky hire? Go for the safe ones that have been winners. This franchise and city deserves it.

I'm not as opposed to risk to achieve reward as many folks here, I suppose. 

 

I also think a GM should do his due diligence on the matter and in the end make a decision based off of relevant data - not off of the history of coaches that previously held a candidate's current position.
