Fowler had the same amount of sacks is Beasly and Ray their rookie years

Quote:Sacks aren't just the only stat that define if a player is good or not... Fowler can't get off a block to save his life.. Its possible he can become a great player, but for where he was drafted he haven't lived up to the hype.. This offseaso he needs to work his tail off to get better, and cut the foolishness out.. Or he will end up like another former Gator De we drafted.... He cant get off the block but yet he had more tackles and more tackles for Loss then Yanick even tho Fowler played less snaps, Fowler also had more pass deflections. Yanick is a better pure pass rusher, but Fowler is better at everthing else

Everytime I decide to key in on Fowler during the games, he's getting rag-dolled by OTs. It's embarrassing.

You know it's ok to be positive about the team every now and then, you should try it I promise you wont spontaneously combust.

There's definitely a lot of work to do but there are also a lot of bright spots like the fact that this is no longer a Gus Bradley led team.

Quote:Fowler did well this year I thought. It isn't just about getting sacks. Its just about getting better and improving! Yeah thats a winn... wait a second, whose this 'new' poster? Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. It is too soon to say Fowler is a bust but his immaturity and personal fouls should not be glossed over either. DFJ was not only playing as a Rookie but he was a year off a torn ACL.
I wouldn't make any excuses for him, he was the #3 overall pick, so having some level of expectation is not unheard of. Ngakoue is just a beast. I could see him getting 14-15 sacks next year.
Calling Deshawn Watson a future bust since 3/19/17. If I eat crow, I will keep this in here and proclaim JackCity a genius.
Fowlers play improved as the year went on so that's encouraging.
I still think he's a guy that will require schemes and stunts to make an impact but that's ok you just have to get a coach that sees it and uses it.
Beasley played through a shoulder injury and Ray didnt start but hey optimism

Quote:Fowler played through shoulder and hip injuries and he also didn't start, but hey optimism.Fowler has played 570 snaps this year, Shane Ray played 341 in 2015 so putting them on equivalent playing field as non starters isn't accurate.
Quote:Fowler has played 570 snaps this year, Shane Ray played 341 in 2015 so putting them on equivalent playing field as non starters isn't accurate. Shane Ray plays on a great aggresive defense with superstars around him while DFJ was stuck with 2 Scoops of Toonies. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

You're the one who brought up not starting as some excuse. I merely responded that Fowler didn't start and got less snaps than Ngakoue who did start. Ray also played behind Miller and Ware. I bet he didn't see a single double team, as well as hardly being key'd on in his rookie year. That was the opposite for Fowler, who seen plenty of double teams. I also think Beasley had more snaps than Fowler his rookie year as well. Quote:Fowler has played 570 snaps this year, Shane Ray played 341 in 2015 so putting them on equivalent playing field as non starters isn't accurate. You realize he had Malik, Wolfe, Von, Ware, Marshall, Trevathan, etc. on that front 7, right? I mean, I'd imagine learning from two all-pro talents at your position probably helps, not to mention who the hell is going to worry about a rookie OLB/DE when you have all those other guys. But Fowler played 230 more snaps so theyre really not comparable. Quote:You said fowler didnt start, comparing Fowlers non starting position to Rays to invalidate that excuse. But Fowler played 230 more snaps so theyre really not comparable.Because he didn't start... You're the one who brought up "starting" in the first place.. That's fine, he may have played 230 more snaps than Ray, so lets just ignore the other 90% of the facts right? Did Beasley not play more snaps than Fowler? Lets ignore that. Did Ray not have a crew of all-pros around him, so nobody had to focus on him? Lets ignore that also. I could go on and on about how stupidly one sided you're trying to be in this argument.
Quote:Because he didn't start... You're the one who brought up "starting" in the first place..Fowler played more snaps than beasley and just because a defense has a lot of talent doesnt actually equate to them letting Shane run free or something lol. No one is just letting 3-4 olbs go unchecked regularly in the nfl. |
