Repeal and Replace Just Ain't Happening

I would expect a version of Rand Paul's plan to be voted on in the coming weeks. They will want to work on Tax Reform and the ACA and aspects of it are in the way of working on individual and corporate tax reform. I had seen an interview that says as much, but can't find it to link.

The mandate isn't dead. It's still law and Execuive Orders don't remove laws. They will process silent returns but you trust the IRS to not audit? I wouldn't trust that agency at all. Good luck to those that do.

The reason the mandate is dead is because of the wording.

By the April deadline, Trump expects to have ACA repealed (and hopefully replaced)

In doing such, there will be nothing to audit.

Basically his executive order gave everyone a grace period until he can repeal said "law"

BTW... that "law" that was signed.... It is a law that requires people to purchase something which is punishable by a penalty guised as a tax... Top 3 worst things Obama has done.

And Republicans deserve just as much blame because they gutted a bunch of stuff and probably made it worse.

Just saying it's a risk to not pay the mandate. If it isn't repealed by April 15th folks are hosed.

ACA is broke and politicians broke it. Time for single payer and be done with the non sense.

My favorite the sell across state line theory. Which shows politicians have zero idea how the industry works.

Selling across state line might not make much difference for Big insurers, but it would for small ones.

How?

Correct me if I am wrong. Insurance has to negotiate with the hospitals and doctors. The amount of time that's going to take would be substantial.

Georgia has had the ability and there were virtually zero takers

There is quite a bit of debate on this back and forth...

here's a pro argument from the Federalist

However...

as this article mentions... the bigger issue in insurance is regulation...

Of course, that is the biggest problem with most things. Overregulation.

Or in a few instances.... underregulation.

Hospital systems go accross state lines even tho insurers don't. If you already had a deal with Baptist health, and suddenly Ga was available to you, now you could cover GA too. That kind of thing. Yes you would add networks, but you wouldn't need the redundancy in each state. It would help the small guys out a lot.

Feel free to step away from this failing message board. Be careful, you definitely appear to be an individual challenged by walking and chewing gum at the same time. Safety first.
