Bortles Looking Better

The NFL assigns wins and losses to QBs. Not that they won or lost by themselves.

However, the fact remains that you people are sour that he has proven to be a winner in the NFL, though without eye popping plays.

Cry till the crows come home. He has won more games than his peers in his draft class and has a division title.

Quote:You also can't compare two different QBs, in two completely different situations.

All you guys are doing is wasting your time and trying to argue with half told stats that only support whatever your own opinion is. When at the end of the day, none of it is facts at all, because it all goes back to not be able to compare the two QBs because they're on two completely different teams and in two completely different situations.

As long as we are discussing how awful he is. We can also state that he has better results in the NFL, in spite of the situations

The NFL assigns wins and losses to teams, not QBs.... But if you want to use that kind of logic, Landry Jones is far and away better than both Bortles and Bridgewater. We should trade the farm for him.

Bortles has better numbers than Bridgewater and Bortles has been in a far worse situation. That's your point?

It's clear some are obsessed with his career thus far and want to see him fail.

I don't think he is great but as long as I see baseless beratings of him, I'll ceaselessly point to the scoreboard. Mods better lock this thread now, and should just ban the words Teddy and Bridgewater from the Jags topic section

Wins are all that count, though clearly an alien concept to us in Jagland.

Bridgewater has more wins in less time

And Landry Jones has more wins than Bridgewater, so that makes Jones the much better QB correct?

He doesn't though

Of course wins and losses are assigned to teams, and also QBs. That's not my opinion. The only player in the team that gets win % stats is the QB. Head coaches too.

Quote:He doesn't though
Sure he does. 22 vs 18 in 2 years I believe.

NFL assigns wins to QBs and wins are the only thing that matters right? Jones is a QB.

Steelers have won 22 games the last 2 years and the Vikings won 18 games in 2 years (I didn't count last year because Bridgewater was sitting at home).

Well then why does the HC get wins assigned to them, if it's only the QB winning or losing?

Reductio ad absurdum

Yes Eric because "QB wins" are so often attributed to backups...but you already know that of course...

He's still a QB is he not? QBs are the only position that is assigned wins... Why should that magically change if he's a backup?

Are you disputing that QBs and head coaches are the people most closely linked with win and loss stats?

Pretty clear because its they have the most influence over the game, it isn't indicative of anything other than "How much they win or lose"

What, you guys don't like me using a stupid dumbed down argument to fit the dumb argument that's taking place?

The entire point is, you guys really need to stop acting like a QB wins or loses games himself. He's simply a piece of the puzzle. Yes he's a little bit bigger of a piece than others, but it still doesn't change the fact that football is the ultimate team sport.

Heck, the Vikings have won more games with Bridgewater passing for less than 200 yards (even less than 100 yards in one or two games), then they've won with him passing for over 200 yards.

A strong Defense, a strong running game and Bridgewater managing the game, while not making many mistakes is why they won games. It's not because Bridgewater is out there completely taking over games and shredding defenders into oblivion.

You guys are really wasting your time trying to argue about comparing two different QBs, in two completely different situations.

It's nothing but half told numbers and really don't mean a whole in the big picture. A QB can't simply take over a game by himself and win. This isn't basketball where one player can take over a game.

You can have the greatest QB ever, in the history of ever, but if the OL doesn't block, receivers don't catch etc etc etc, whats it matter? There's 10 other guys out there with that QB who all have to do their job as well. If one person doesn't, it doesn't just effect him, but it effects the other 10 as well. That's why it's the ultimate freakin team sport and always will be.

Which is exactly what I just said. "it isn't indicative of anything other than "How much they win or lose" ""

Don't know if you've noticed or not Eric but I haven't been part of this argument other than making fun of your absurdist debate stance.

Are you saying Bortles didn't go into a worse situation than Bridgewater did? Honestly.
