MJD better than Fred Taylor?

Quote:Boy the board has been infected with no brain cell activity lately. There's that, and the fact that there's an entire generation of Jag fans who never actually saw Fred Taylor play other than in highlight videos. Anyone who was able to see both men play recognize the absolute chasm in talent / abilities that exists between the two. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yeah, that's not making me feel any younger either! Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Not even close.Don't get this twisted as I think Fred is clearly better. But In fairness to MJD, he oftentimes WAS the offense, if not the whole team for a good portion of his career. Even though Fred was injury prone he still played on teams with Jimmy Smith for 7 years and had other playmakers to take pressure off of him, MJD definitely played on far worse teams. Further, MJD's best game... yea he "only" had 177 yards...... but he did that on EIGHT CARRIES!!!!!!! him and CJ2K were one upping each other with long runs that game, unfortunately the Jaguars inept coaching staff decided to be pass happy rather than just feed MJD who was hot. Had they given him the ball 20 times ... yea he would've topped Freds 234 mark against the Steelers (although if Taylor wasn't severely hungover that day, he could've debatably set the single game rushing record that day) http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2009110109...=fullstory
Championship Formula:
1) Draft Trevor Lawrence! 2) Play good physical Defense! 3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy! 4) ??? 5) Blank #2 6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Love Mojo! But Fred is the greatest Jag and defintely greater than MJD. Not close....
Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

Fred Taylor was the king. Most of MJD's success came off from Fred's success.
No pain, no gain.

He was a workhorse for us. Yeah MJD had heavy years too, but Freds best years were when he was the offense. Garrard wasn't very good till 2007, and Leftwich never was good. Freddy T made this team go during those years. Either way, I love them both, but Fred was better and for a much longer period of time. I can still see him juking players out of their shoes and then trucking the next player. You just don't get that combo of speed strength and agility.
Guess this account is the one now? Rip HR86 2010-2017.
Freddy T was the best...Let me add this to the discussion...How much credit does Greg Jones deserve for MJD's success?

What's unreal is when you consider how many yards Fred actually ran. When you look at MJD's stats, his yardage totally basically matches what he actually ran because he's such a north-south runner. Jones drew never ran laterally.... he might bounce outside on occasion, but that's not what I mean.
Fred, on the other hand, might run 20 yards to gain 10. You pretty much have to take his total and at least double it because half of his running was laterally or even backwards as he maneuvered around defenders. Fred ran like a finesse guy avoiding contact, but then he'd finish his runs like a power back.

Fred is an all time great. Why he was taken out in goal line sets is beyond me. His injuries killed him though. If not for those he would have 13000 or so yards, one of the best. MJD was a good back though.
Not to mention that Fred has 10x more character and respect than MJD. The Jaguars were extremely fortunate to have someone like Fred Taylor help define the early history of this franchise. He will go down as a legend.
